Default Car Insurance companies

They suck.

Just venting here so I was shopping around for better rates because my current insurance State Farm which in general had been pretty good. But they have been increasing my rate by 20%+ or more per year for what they say is due to weather events and accidents in my area. I just get annoyed that I am subsidizing people that live in flood zones and bad drivers but thats is how insurance works.

Now I know there are two claims in the last five years on my policy where my insurance did payout. One small at fault one and one while parked comprehensive claim. Not great but I didn't think too terrible for two drivers over 5 years. So after getting back a number of quotes back saying sorry you have had too many claims we can't insure you. I asked GIECO who did at least give me a quote what's on my record.

Apparently there was a third payout from my insurance for an accident where I never used my insurance the other person's insurance agreed that they were at fault 100% and paid for all the repairs to my car, at least to my knowledge. No one mentioned through that process that they were under insured and I would have to use my insurance as well, and a doubt they were they were driving a new merc. So now I have to find out from my insurance just wtf they did and try to clear up my record.

And what makes it even stupider is that I needed to make a small change, the start date by 1 day forward from the original quote GIECO would increase my rate by 10% but not if I left it the same. Even the person on the phone said before he told me "This is going to sound stupid but bare with me". The original quote I had accepted only included the correct number of claims, 2. But if I make a change they would have to include the third claim that shouldn't be there and increase the rate. So rather then paying the extra I'd just wait a day to get my new car. Which I was saving to say for last.

I purchased a new 2025 Volvo XC60 T8. My wife likes it because it's a "safe car" I like it because it does 0–60 mph in 4.2 with 455hp and 523 ft lbs. Also because I won't have to use any gas to get to work and back but I don't have to worry about finding a charging station to get to my parents. I kinda wanted to get the V60 Polestar but it was just a lot more. And the nice perk if you can wait the added 4-6 months they offer the best European delivery. They flew both of us out to Sweden for free with two nights in a very nice hotel. Plus a factory tour, their new Volvo museum, and 100 dollars for dinner. If you want to stay longer you can and they insure and register your car so you can use it to drive all over europe. You also get to keep the euro plate too. Not to mention they literally have an unveiling of your car and set everything up for you and show you every feature and how to use them. The only downsides besides the wait would be that you are locked to 5% off MSRP and the only thing negotiable are the dealership fees, you cannot apply any incentives, and you have to pay in full, no lease (or finance I think).

I don't want to come across as a ****, but 3 "instances" in 5 years is not good. I've had no tickets or claims in +30 years and GIECO raised me almost 40%.

Everybody's insurance went up. It started last year and it went up again this year. It is what it is.

It's fine and your right, it is not good. To quote I did say it was

. I wish I could control other people's actions, then I would have only 1 instance in 13 years of owning this car. It also doesn't help living in the 2nd most densely populated city in the US and being right next to #1 and #3 while working in #4. Which is why in general rates are high in my area that makes sense. It is what it is and I was just venting anyway don't take it personally And I think it sucks having such a good record and still having to be raised so much.

I did get proof from my old insurance that they paid out $0 at least if GEICO tries to come back and say otherwise I do have that.
