Sounds like this is a secondary/vacay home, and glad to hear that your primary residence is still good. Still a headache you most likely have to go through for the FL home, and wish you the best man!
Though I always take the media with a grain of salt, it's been reported that most of the hurricane victims do not have hurricane flood insurance:
