The Apple tablet

So far I am extremely bored of this device already and basically everything I thought it might have is missing. Maybe the hacker community will unlock the secrets of this device, but so far I am out on buying it.

Edit: Actually I am not surprised, because I would almost put money on it that version 2 will be what every thought it would have been thus making version 1 buyers upgrade (they may even wait for #3).

Hehe yea... just look at the evolution of the 1G Touch and iPhone. I can only imagine what sort of software and hardware bugs we'll find. I'd like to see what the 4G iPhone and Touch has to offer in the near future... man, I still don't have much interest. However, I'm growing tired of lack of games or anything decent for WinMo.

My current phone is an Xperia X1 with custom ROM, and I've only had it for a few months. I like everything about it, but it'll be nice to have capacitive touch, accelerometer, and a better processor. A few people are working on Android, so it's quite fun to mess with this stuff.

I am done with WinMo, I do not want to jump back to the iPhone but with 4.0 firmware this year I might end up having to, and also because Android & AT&T are not playing nice yet (this summer hopefully).

Well one thing I like, you can watch live MLB on the iPad, if they can get NFL, college football and basketball (though I do not for BB) it would definitely sell on that alone.

It just needs some killer apps written by 3rd party developers. I wish they had sorted out the screen for reading. Reading from a screen just isn't as good as the printed word.

Well that is about it, you can check out engadget or gizmodo for all the highlights and such. Overall the device is basically a large iPod touch, new features are already on the basic iPod but are just now easier to use.

seems like a big iTouch that will in time make its way into more and more consumer households. but as of now i think i can enjoy my cell to call/text, my iPod for portable music and my laptop as portable computing. i can see the iPad being immediately useful for those that travel often or dont have a laptop that dont need a traditional OS where you can install your own programs. The iPad is pretty much a multimedia tablet so im not sure how the business enterprise apps may take to this. only time and a price cut will tell

You're right, I should wait till gen 2. Things should improve and hopefully jailbroken by then.

I will admit I was hoping for some more functionality rather than a giant iTouch. Here is what I was expecting....

I learned with early Apple tech and very largely with the iPhone about Apple's business view towards customer. They know largely people are willing to jump on first run of an item and then implement solid upgrades in version two. So I will wait, but will probably be going an Android phone this summer and keeping my netbook.
