Wouldn't call it a belief per se, just playing devil's advocate as to why so many seem to find it hard to stay with one partner.

Yeah, faithful is a better word.
As for physically versus mentally, from what I have seen, men seem to give out the physical and women seem to give emotions. What I mean is, men can be with others physically and not get their mind involved, whereas women cheat in an emotional sense, finding connections with guys other than their mate.

Just to throw my disclaimer out there, this is just what I have noticed, not a practice I take part of.
