The most recent failure was due to an improperly adjusted clutch pedal and that was a while ago before the CMAK install. I also used to have a bad habit of stabbing at the clutch pedal and holding it all the way to the floor, which stresses the internal seals. I got the pedal adjusted and corrected my pedal habits; outside of those issues, I haven't had any trouble with the OEM CMC. I've considered getting one of the heavy duty ones, but it's working now and I've messed with it enough.

Much like how there's no sense in replacing the OEM CSC with another OEM CSC, I guess I'm worried if the OEM CMC is also prone to failure and wondering if the CMC should be replaced with aftermarket or if the OEM CMC would suffice.

What a headache and PITA this CSC causes :shakes head::mad:

With proper installation, the OEM CMC is just fine.

how do you plan on lifting the car and dropping the transmission?

I have a high-capacity low-rise scissor lift for getting the car up. One of my buddies has a tranny jack that I can use.

When I traded my A7 for M6, I was preparing for the dreaded CSC and bought all the tools needed, minus the high-capacity low-rise scissor lift (got this for free).

I'll buy you 2 ice creams if you come to FL and help me replace

And that travel ban is fake political news/stunt :rofl2: To put your mind at ease, I'm Asian, which I know you like to report for whatever reason, but nobody messes with me so I think you should be good :icon17:

I dropped my transmission on jack stands. Couldn't even get the transmission out from under the car. We just slid it down the tunnel toward the back of the car to make room to work. The worst part was disconnecting and reconnecting the sensor on the top of the transmission - had to go through the engine bay to get it.

If Jar made the trip out to help you, I would strongly consider making the drive up to lend a hand too.. small caveat though, Nismo (my dog) would be coming with me..

I've also read about 2 bolts on top of the tranny that is a PITA to get to. Is it totally necessary to reconnect these or can I skip these 2? The amount of energy/effort for 2 lousy bolts just doesn't seem worth the trouble, and I find it hard to believe that 2 bolts is what's holding the tranny in place.

I dunno about fake news. I've seen the policies that FL has proposed and adopted. IMO the advisory should be for those living in or thinking about moving to FL. And the advisory should simply read: DON'T :icon17:

I'm just kidding around of course. That travel advisory doesn't affect me. I'm a straight, white male :usa:

No worries, I have a Korean Jindo dog that would keep him company

I don't recall having any issues getting to the bolts. We had all the necessary swivels, adapters, and extensions and such. The toughest part was getting the threads started when reinstalling.

Wish I could help, but I've got a M3 still torn apart in my garage. I can't be traveling across the country to help other people work on their cars when I don't even have the time and energy for my own :icon17:

JARblue 05-26-2023 07:20 PM

Ok I'm leaving the office finally. Have a lovely Friday evening and a wonderful weekend everyone :hello:
