How do you know those laws and regulations aren’t mostly being followed? It’s pretty rare to hear about the govt (at any level) using its power to persecute a specific person.

I’m not saying it never happens, but it’s not super common.

Especially with a conservative scotus, any lawsuit by a individual alleging govt persecution/abuse is going to get a favorable ear.

Look at what's happening in the world, and what has happened. Wars and sanctions happen simply because of disagreements, regardless of the basis of the disagreements. Look at the wars the US have been involved in. Justified or not, they are taking action because of whatever reason.

It's "not super common" because a lot of sh!t is covered up and not made known to the public.

Of course, but there is information about everyone available to them. Even this very message that I am typing, I'm sure it gets logged somewhere as a digital footprint for them.

It's like the IRS. They are more likely to focus on taxpayers who have a history of having audits and doing shady sh!t than those who pay their taxes quietly and without any trouble, but, they still have all the information on them anyway.

Fair enough, but that was in response to your post about every physical body being the same.

My original post was referring to health and working out/staying in shape is more important than diet (I understand both diet and gym are important) and the point I was trying to make is that diet alone isn't what's going to cut it in terms of health, and if I had to choose between the two, my vote is for the gym.

You’re confusing govt power being USED to further national security and economic interests overseas.

That is not the same as our own government targeting and abusing its power to go after and destroy an individual citizen of our country (or corporation).

The US using its economic and military power to maintain world supremacy by engaging in conflicts, sanctioning foreign nationals, countries etc is not the same conversation.

And by the way, we should all be glad the USA does these things bc it’s what keeps the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency which buys us clout, influence and power around the world.

Even despite the moderate inflation we’ve had recently, it’s bc of the above our costs for goods and services are so cheap. A $40k car here sells for around $60-70k in Europe. It’s super common there for 10 year car loans so people can afford a car. Most folks around he world rent bc home ownership is too expensive but not in the USA.

We have such a great life/opportunity in this country frankly at the expense of most of the rest of the world. That’s what our military and economic might buy us.

As to the ethics and morality of this setup, well that’s a different conversation.

I did mention regardless of the basis of the disagreements. But okay, at the risk of another visit form Trips, I'll provide 1 light example: B. and Iraq - there were no weapons. Believe you me, there are much more examples, both known and unbeknownst to us, that is happening, whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not.

In regards to your comment on homeownership, this one made me chuckle. Home prices and values have skyrocketed. Rental prices have gone up significantly. I advise clients that it's a better time to buy now, but there are less clients now that are able and have the means to buy now than before. Home prices have gone up, home insurance rates have gone up, cost of fixing sht!t (parts/labor/diy) have gone up, utilities have gone up, taxes have gone up. So IMO, while NOW is a better time to buy (if you have a means and ability to buy), homeownership affordability has gone down.

You’re still confusing international and national security/interests vs our govt going after a specific US individual citizen or corporation bc that individual is disliked or said/did something that the govt doesn’t like (but is not a criminal or civil offense).

With regards to the bolded part, of course some abuses occur, we live in an imperfect world, I listed two specific examples, FDR vs Rockefeller and FL VS Disney which are pertinent to the conversation.

But, you bolded statements sound like conspiracy theory bs.

You have no idea how expensive living overseas is, I was born and raised overseas, Americans, even with the recent moderate inflation have no idea how good the have it.

To use the taxes/IRS example. If you don’t cheat on your taxes, would you still be comfortable contacting them and telling them to give you a second look?

Going on discord is like self flagging yourself to the FBI, NSA etc bc of the type of people who tend to frequent it and most importantly the recent intelligence leak that occurred there. That’s all I’m saying.

It doesn't faze me at all on what you're saying and never took your posts as an attack towards me personally. What I'm saying is you're taking 1 post that I posted as a joke, and turning it into an issue rather than what it was intended for: a light laugh.

Nothing better than a good debate, I used your joke as an opportunity to start a vigorous and intelligent debate, which we (frankly as a country ) could use more of.

This is how I slow my brain injury progression since the only 3 things that actually work to help slow neurodegenerative conditions are diet, exercise and social interaction. It’s very difficult for me to leave the house and I don’t think to fast on my feet so in person conversation can stress me out/is difficult.

It’s actually really hard/xhausting to think and write out all these responses but it’s like brain therapy for me.
