What did he say. I expect mine to say go pound sand since I have two new dumocrats.

I lost my mother when I was 9 or 10 yrs old and it was extreme hell. Those years are a little foggy. When I got in my teens it was absolutely unbearable. It got much worse in my late teens and early 20's. If it wasn't for my next door neighbor that got me into modding and fixing up cars at 16 I wouldn't have made it. I would of been a drug head or an Alky. If the EPA get's away with this they will crush us. This has been what car folks have been doing for forever. Sign the damn petition, inform your congess folks, etc.

So we are supposed to stand by and let it happen. Not gonna do it. Our EPA money would be better spent helping/forcing China to get their crap together.

Yeah, but then they'll find all those illegal parts that you have and get you for trafficking

They won't find much. Most of them are in storage :icon17:

Possible, but the email list is used by SEMA which has a vested interest in not disclosing it; and the emails it generates go directly to your Senators and Congress-persons based on your zip code. I doubt they'd have an interest in trying to use it to have the EPA investigate a certain J. Larson who is a constituent and potential donor in their district.

I rate your comment as "unlikely".

I'm in.

The EPA is a fine example of a bunch of unaccountable bureaucrats/policy wonks making 'rules' that we are 'supposed' to follow. :shakes head::shakes head:

They might not disclose the list intentionally but they (and anybody else) can be hacked.

I could see it happening. Investigating you (or anyone else; especially those that post online about their mods) would be a just few keystrokes.

The amount you might contribute is nothing compared to what the big donors are already coming up with.

But I've been called paranoid before, so ....

Edit: Not saying one shouldn't support the cause. Just be aware that nothing you do online should be considered private.

Sure, but think of it in terms of risk vs reward. The data would have to be collected by each Senator or Congress-person, which would also mean they'd need a reason to do it, which would mean lobbyists or big business saying "hey it's actually in your best interests to do this thing for me, and I'll contribute to your campaign if you do". I don't see that happening. Most businesses do not lobby on behalf of the EPA.

Absolutely agree that nothing we do online is truly private.

Enough money to drive an agenda will sway any politician. Just because you don’t see it happening doesn’t mean it can’t.

Given that I spent a year working as a lobbyist for a good cause, I'd say I probably know a bit about that. You missed my point. Go back, re-read, and then we can discuss.

Not saying you don’t know a thing or two about the subject. I’m saying everyone has a price, Money talks. But enough money in someone’s pockets which all the dirt bag politicians do for one another they can just about make anything happen.

Oh I totally agree. The point I was making is who wants the information of a couple of miscreants like us? For our info to have value, there has to be a buyer who can get something from it, and the EPA isn't that buyer (since they are a gov't agency, they aren't likely to lobby on their own behalf). Which would leave a Green organization of some kind being the likely buyer, and they'd have to pretty much go politician by politician, make donations to each one, and say "hey btw did you get anyone asking you to sign this? Can you send us their personal information?" only to rat us out to the EPA so the EPA is stuck trying to fine us.

People lobby for things of value, typically, and I don't see it being enough data to be worthwhile with the amount of effort involved.

Hacking SEMA probably rates a little more likely.

takemorepills 03-16-2021 06:39 PM

They are kind of late in the game, yeah? It's the twilight of ICE vehicles, EV/PHEVs are on the way, and they decide to start busting balls NOW?

They're (gov't) being d-bags. Drunk on power, this isn't the only fun stuff they are coming after.
More taxes and less freedoms are coming!

danegrey 03-16-2021 06:57 PM

ok, I sent mine too, just a little late catching up

Interesting. I got the typical 'thanks for your email. If you have an urgent need, please call 913 XXX-XXXX.'

Why, I have been seeing this in the diesel world since 2008 or so. They have finally made their way to the gas world. That is why I don't have a newer diesel truck when the emission standards changed in 2007.5. Then tightened again in 2010-2012, and then again in 2014.
