Love you too..............from a distance. :rofl2:

Sometimes I don't think you see the big picture. You don't see what is going on in other parts of the world that effect us. Raw material shortage in some 3rd world country and what kind of a effect it has on us. You don't read trade papers like I do to see what's happening. You're too focused on your job and yourself to look around and see what's happening.

I bought a family pack of chicken thighs on Friday. Usually pay between 6 and 7 dollars. It was $12.00.

Just paid $30 for 2 burgers, fries and drinks at 5 Guys. :icon14:

There is a shipping container shortage happening now. :icon14: The one company just put in for an order of a half billion dollars for containers.

Thank goodness our local farms and butchers didnt hike prices when covid hit like everywhere else. They said business as usual. We bought a full cow and split it with family for just over $5 a pound.

I read an article today blaming the chicken shortage and price hike on lack of workers. I doubt that, they're coming across the border in droves.

Wifey, Mia and me put about 150 miles on the Z today. Driving the routes for the Labor Day meet. Seen a chit load of vette's driving around. They out numbered the 'stangs. :icon14:

Stopped off at 5 Guys to get something to eat. 2 burgers, fries, and drinks was over $30.00. :icon14: The burgers were good. :yum:

Almost had a turkey in the windshield. 7 of those flying bowling balls flew across the road in front of us. They came off the hillside on the left of us, and landed on our right side. Just past the guard rail. #6 was windshield level, but 20 yards in front of us. The last one just cleared the top of the Z. I was waiting to hear the claws scrapping on the roof. :icon14:

Came home and got the grass cut too. It's forecasted to rain tomorrow.

When's the last time you tried to buy ammo. Oh wait. You get it from the gov't. Plus you don't shoot.

When is the last time you bought lumber. Oh wait. You don't do wood working. I deal with the stuff daily.

You haven't notice the price of food going up? :icon14: Oh wait. You only buy for yourself. You're not buying for a family.

Clorox wipes are still hard to find. We can't get any at the store.

Last year, toilet paper was hard to get. Remember on CNN, the lines of people trying to get it?

I’ll try and play a bit of devil’s advocate here:

I don’t shoot but no one I know around here that does has complained about an ammo shortage. In fact I was in bass pro shop recently to buy a pair of shoes and they were advertising ammo on sale.

Lumber prices have def gone up a lot no question.

Food inflation is real, no doubt.

Clorox wipes, tp etc has always been easy to get here with the exception of during the worst of the pandemic last year

I’ve noticed the Midwest and some northeastern folks like you have had more logistical/supply issues compared with Florida. I think we may just have better supply chain logistics down here compared to y’all.

Not exactly true, the vast majority of undocumented immigrants coming in now, and for the last few years are coming from the golden triangle, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. They are coming bc of violence, instability, drug/gang warfare, and lastly lack of jobs. That last one is actually not that many. When we see families or mainly women and children coming in, that’s not for work, that’s for humanitarian reasons, aka, all the other **** I listed above.

Re: the lack of meat processing plant workers, traditionally, most have been undocumented for decades, hence one reason all our food in this country is artificially cheaper than it should be. If companies are now not hiring illegals bc of increased ice enforcement or lack of bodies, then prices will go up.

The answer to the illegal immigration problem from Central America is for us to invest in our neighbors to the south. We played a big role in destabilizing that part of the world thru clandestine ops, (Iran contra anyone). We are now in part reaping what we sowed. Plus, ethically, it’s the right thing to do and our US companies will profit, and therefore so will me and anyone else who invests. And, we need to counter growing Chinese and Russian influence in that area, we have always treated south and Central America as a foreign policy afterthought, wr need to fix that.
