Was there anything wrong with your car?

If not, laugh about it and roll away. Think of him as a Guardian...for that side of your Z.

Island_370 01-19-2010 05:07 PM

Maybe the store was REALLY busy for a really short time??

NYBladeZ 01-19-2010 05:07 PM

Hope there are no dings to report of...

XLR8SN 01-19-2010 05:10 PM

Ahh try to laugh it off. As long as there was no damage to your car. Same thing happen to me at a shopping center. I parked FAAAAARRR away and someone in a Sequoia had to park next to me. But..he left some space and I just assumed that he wanted to park there to admire the car a bit.

No harm...no foul. At least he didn't park on your driver side and leave you like 2 inches of space.

m4a1mustang 01-19-2010 05:17 PM

I don't see how that's being an *******. For one, he gave you plenty of room (even with you being parked off-center). Second, the lot could have been busier earlier in the day when he came and parked.

Did you reach underneath the car and feel for heat radiating from the engine block by any chance? You know, just to get a feel for how long he was parked...

Pharmacist 01-19-2010 05:33 PM

to answer the questions, no nothing was wrong with the car. And no, the store was not busy. I work overnight 12 am to 8 am. the rest of the plaza is closed, and even business in our store is VERY slow at that time. the parking lot is always this empty and stays like that till 9 or 10 am. in fact most other days the lot is usually even emptier than what the pics show.

no that car wasn't parked there for too long. it's not one of the employees. might have been a customer though i'm not too sure.

the part about him being an *** is not that he didn't leave a sufficient gap between our cars, but rather that he just had to park right beside me when he had so much room and such an empty parking lot. in fact he parked in the middle of the lot. whatever his destination was, as you can see in the pics there were many spaces available much closer to wherever he was going. in fact that is precisely the reason i park in the middle of the lot, to avoid other cars parking beside me and possibly scratching or denting my car (which is precisely what happened with the dayshift pharmacist's brand new subaru impreza)

Blown32 01-19-2010 05:41 PM

Apparently when you buy a 370Z it doesn't give you special privileges in any public parking lot?It is the risk we all take when parking in a public lot!So be greatful that your car had no dents or scratches!

phelan 01-19-2010 05:55 PM

I was expecting a tirade about how your car got a door ding or something. He parked close by, be thankful the Z hasn't been whacked on the door panel, and move on. lol

wat

It has nothing to do with special privileges. It has everything to do with just being courteous to someone else. No one is going to bitch or complain if someone parks next to you when the lot is full or when it means they can get to the door faster, that's pretty normal.

Parking right up next to someone (especially when they have a coupe) when there are other viable options is just a **** move.

It has nothing to do with a sense of entitlement or anything. Consider it like opening a door for someone. You don't have to do it, but it is a nice thing to do -- and chances are you are an *** if you just slam a door in someones face. :V

Meh... you can park anywhere you want without being an ******* as long as you park in the center of your lane. People who park off-center or on the lines are d-bags.

If that Explorer was on the line right next to his Z, sure, I'd be like "what a ****." But he was parked dead center and there was PLENTY of room between his car and the Z, which was not quite centered.

No harm done. :shakes head:

I always park far away from everybody too. About a year ago I came out to an empty parking lot and what was parked right next to me? I huge dump truck! My wife thought it was hilarious, I did not.

Zaggeron 01-19-2010 07:32 PM

Maybe he was just checking out your car. What better way to get a closer look than to park next to it and do a quick circle around before heading into the store. Or maybe he thought your Z was lonely and needed a friend.

Especially when they have a coupe? As opposed to what? Do coupes deserve more respect than another type of car? Or someones $140,000 porsche panerama is less substantial than a $38,000 Z coupe? I think we should just respect other peoples property period.

Me personally I wouldn't do what the explorer did. But if I had to bet on it. I would say it was his 1st time seeing a Z up close and he/she was deeply admiring it.

I bet if it was some hot azz chic and pharmacist went out and saw some DD's danglin over his ride and she was the owner of the explorer. I bet he'd be all head swole with pics of the sexxxy girl that had to park next to his ride and a thread about how he got the digits.
Lol...
Honestly this thread would've been a lot more interesting if it went that way. :)

PapoZalsa 01-19-2010 07:38 PM

I would never have park right on the middle of the parking lot.

SophiaZ 01-19-2010 07:42 PM

Sh*t, atleast ur car's is fine! I got a door ding about half the size of a dime under my door handle. Bought touch up paint and didn't do a PERFECT job but the silver body is covered :) It's getting a paint job in March anyways but after that..I WILL be parking SOOO FAR AWAY! Accidents happen..it's only a car.

:iagree:
Good stuff. I have parked out in the boon-docks in a parking lot next to a Z06 and show car 350Z.... mainly for the fact I KNOW HE WONT DING MY CAR!!!! ALWAYS PARK NEXT TO THE NICER CAR..no matter what u got!

mick 01-19-2010 07:49 PM

this is like when you go to the restroom and there are plenty of unused urinal stalls, you don't use the one next to the only other guy there :D

No one should really have to worry about dings/scratches etc in public spaces. Although there a are few inconsiderate a88holes that just open their door bang into another car and don't care what damage is done, I know I have seen them. That is an a**hole!

370ZNV 01-19-2010 08:14 PM

My wife and I were out for dinner on Saturday night (we took our Chrysler 300). when we woke up in the morning, we noticed the entire passenger side of the car had been keyed from headlight to tail light...now that's an a**hole.
just be grateful all they did was park close.

A guy that lived in the apartment complex I lived in owned a Jetta, and would park dead center between two spaces. Of course, at night, this meant zero parking spots.

So, one day he just got finished detailing his car...and I roll my truck up 1" off his mirror on his drivers door, then get out, get in my girlfriend's car, and park it 1" off his passenger door. I also moved the dumpster over in front of his car.

To say he was a little ticked, is an understatement. Of course, I'm not a small fella, and he wasn't all that anyway...lot of "words". I got him to shut up for a minute and told him to park like regular people, and if I'm next to you, you have nothing to worry about - and with all the crap you called me, I could have decided to key the **** out of it instead and you'd never know. "But I gotta go to work, I don't have time for this shi..." "But I gotta come home from work, and I don't have the energy to deal with this shi..."

Guy never did it again.

Ironic part, I'm 10x worse than that guy with my Z now.

It has nothing to do with price or respect at all. The door on a coupe typically takes more room to comfortably open for you to get inside compared to a 4-door sedan. Comparing my car to previous sedans I have driven/been in, I can only slightly open my door if someone is next to me compared to being able to easily get out. I'm also a skinny guy, so I'd imagine it would be even more difficult for someone bigger than me. That's also not adding wind into the equation and a million other things

You'll notice something like this was mentioned in the OP, hence me using the especially.

No.

Tyrell Tyson 01-19-2010 09:35 PM

Pharmacist how is he being an *******?

He didn't door ding you, didn't park so close you could not open your door to get in.

Obviously he parked next to your car in the empty lot to get a good look at your sexy yellow banana, i mean car :stirthepot:

oh i wish that was true. but when was the last time u saw a hot chick driving a rustbucket explorer?

Pharmacist 01-19-2010 11:06 PM

what i dont understand is why can't he park a couple of spots next to me and still "admire" the car? why does he have to park just next to me? like some one said, its just like when a guy comes in and uses the urinal just next to u and rub shoulders with u when all the other urinals are vacant. and yes, if you look closely the passenger door was partially blocked off. it would not have been possible to open it up completely. ultimately that was irrelevant since i had no passengers with me, but still.

also, if you read my original post, i stated that another pharmacist that works there (she works dayshift so the parking lot is usually much worse, almost completely full) also had a car put a small dent in the rear hatch of her brand new subaru impreza. that's exactly why i get ticked off when people park beside my car. it has nothing to do with status or ego or whatever. it has everything to do with the morons who pull up and then kick their doors open even if it hits and scratches the car beside them. and its impossible to recognize such morons. some are men, some are women. old and young. some drive rustbuckets, others drive expensive cars. that's why i get paranoid when ANY car parks beside me. the fact that this guy had a bazillion other spots to park just makes it more irritating. also keep in mind this is my first ever brand new car that i bought, so that makes me even more OCD about it.
