this is like when you go to the restroom and there are plenty of unused urinal stalls, you don't use the one next to the only other guy there :D

No one should really have to worry about dings/scratches etc in public spaces. Although there a are few inconsiderate a88holes that just open their door bang into another car and don't care what damage is done, I know I have seen them. That is an a**hole!

My wife and I were out for dinner on Saturday night (we took our Chrysler 300). when we woke up in the morning, we noticed the entire passenger side of the car had been keyed from headlight to tail light...now that's an a**hole.
just be grateful all they did was park close.

No harm...no foul. At least he didn't park on your driver side and leave you like 2 inches of space.

A guy that lived in the apartment complex I lived in owned a Jetta, and would park dead center between two spaces. Of course, at night, this meant zero parking spots.

So, one day he just got finished detailing his car...and I roll my truck up 1" off his mirror on his drivers door, then get out, get in my girlfriend's car, and park it 1" off his passenger door. I also moved the dumpster over in front of his car.

To say he was a little ticked, is an understatement. Of course, I'm not a small fella, and he wasn't all that anyway...lot of "words". I got him to shut up for a minute and told him to park like regular people, and if I'm next to you, you have nothing to worry about - and with all the crap you called me, I could have decided to key the **** out of it instead and you'd never know. "But I gotta go to work, I don't have time for this shi..." "But I gotta come home from work, and I don't have the energy to deal with this shi..."

Guy never did it again.

Ironic part, I'm 10x worse than that guy with my Z now.

Lol...
Honestly this thread would've been a lot more interesting if it went that way. :)

I think I just learned a new language.

Especially when they have a coupe? As opposed to what? Do coupes deserve more respect than another type of car? Or someones $140,000 porsche panerama is less substantial than a $38,000 Z coupe? I think we should just respect other peoples property period.
It has nothing to do with price or respect at all. The door on a coupe typically takes more room to comfortably open for you to get inside compared to a 4-door sedan. Comparing my car to previous sedans I have driven/been in, I can only slightly open my door if someone is next to me compared to being able to easily get out. I'm also a skinny guy, so I'd imagine it would be even more difficult for someone bigger than me. That's also not adding wind into the equation and a million other things

You'll notice something like this was mentioned in the OP, hence me using the especially.

He didn't door ding you, didn't park so close you could not open your door to get in.

Obviously he parked next to your car in the empty lot to get a good look at your sexy yellow banana, i mean car :stirthepot:

Me personally I wouldn't do what the explorer did. But if I had to bet on it. I would say it was his 1st time seeing a Z up close and he/she was deeply admiring it.

oh i wish that was true. but when was the last time u saw a hot chick driving a rustbucket explorer?

Pharmacist 01-19-2010 11:06 PM

what i dont understand is why can't he park a couple of spots next to me and still "admire" the car? why does he have to park just next to me? like some one said, its just like when a guy comes in and uses the urinal just next to u and rub shoulders with u when all the other urinals are vacant. and yes, if you look closely the passenger door was partially blocked off. it would not have been possible to open it up completely. ultimately that was irrelevant since i had no passengers with me, but still.

also, if you read my original post, i stated that another pharmacist that works there (she works dayshift so the parking lot is usually much worse, almost completely full) also had a car put a small dent in the rear hatch of her brand new subaru impreza. that's exactly why i get ticked off when people park beside my car. it has nothing to do with status or ego or whatever. it has everything to do with the morons who pull up and then kick their doors open even if it hits and scratches the car beside them. and its impossible to recognize such morons. some are men, some are women. old and young. some drive rustbuckets, others drive expensive cars. that's why i get paranoid when ANY car parks beside me. the fact that this guy had a bazillion other spots to park just makes it more irritating. also keep in mind this is my first ever brand new car that i bought, so that makes me even more OCD about it.

m4a1mustang 01-20-2010 06:28 AM

To be fair to the driver of the explorer, there would have been no issue with opening the passenger's door if you were parked in the center of your space (like the explorer).

TX_370 01-20-2010 07:23 AM

I hate when people do that...THERE'S 100 DIFFERENT SPOTS AVAILABLE AND YOU PARK RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!! WTF!!!!!

but :rofl2: @ this :p

m4a1mustang 01-20-2010 07:35 AM

Well here's my take on it...

If you are parked all the way out in BFE, and someone just happens to park right next to you, but they have done a masterful job of parking IN THE CENTER OF THEIR SPACE, they are doing you a favor by preventing someone who doesn't know how to park from parking in that space and risking damage to your car!

Everyone should lighten up about it. :)

No.

I understand what you mean. I have a G37s coupe and an altima 3.5se sedan. Fortunately, I have a handicap parking permit so I don't have to park in a spot where people are up against my car. But when I can't. I park to take 2 spaces and my car is parked in a angular position to ensure boarding. That might be a **** move but @ least I'm not dealing with any d*&kheads.
So I understand what you mean just don't see it prevalent in this one situation judging by the pictures. I'm just happy nothing happened to pharmacists car. its a hot ride and can see why it would be admired by explorer dude. No harm, no foul.
