To do it right. You need to go to a bike shop to get measured. 26" tires have been around forever. The 29" came out a few years ago. Said to be less rolling resistance. Not everyone is doing them. Other thing is brakes. Cantilevers brakes or disc. Go with disc's. Gears. How many gears you want? There is some new stuff out there that I haven't kept up with. All MT bike have front forks now. This is where it can get $$$$$ I have Marzocchi Bomber's on mine.

Isn't he just getting this bike to put an electric motor on it and tool about with the girlfriend? If so, seems to me it really doesnt matter which bike he gets as long as it has a seat, handlebars and brakes. Wouldnt a walmart bike work for this project? Don't get me wrong... my last bike was a Cervelo triathlon bike, so I understand. But buying a high end bike to strap an electric motor on seems like overkill. |

That ain't no lie!!! That is the most expensive four days of fun for me each year. Still racecar said I need bigger turbos and that money evaporated that fast!

The 9 speed in the rear is still good to have over a 7 speed. Hybrids generally come with 700c wheels, that's the same size as a road bike but wider. They are basically 29". Also, get stainless steel spokes on the wheels or the spokes will rust out in no time. Get trigger shifters, not twist shifters that come on the cheap bikes. And do not get a steel frame bike, aluminum for sure. Giants are fine as are all the name brands. Again, it all has to do with the components. I ride a Fuji hybrid as my everyday bike. It has high end components. The owner of the shop I did repairs for is a Fuji dealer and gets their bikes for less than half off. I paid him $300 for an $800 hybrid. He is also an electric bike dealer. If you were out here I could get you an amazing price on an electric bike.
