A firing squad would be too good for this so-called officer
Exactly! The officers kneed should not even be anywhere near his neck it should be between his shoulder blades. Also he is supposed easy of any pain compliance technique if the person is compliant. What happened hear is no different than what happened to Rodny King other than Rodney didn't die. Regardless of what the person has done an officer should only used the amount of force necessary to make the arrest. Hmm, let's see four on one against an unarmed suspect that is under control and compliant. Even if the suspect was not totally compliant it would be reasonable to assume he was fighting for his life. I know if it was me I would be fighting to get a breath.

I saw plenty of white people looting too...Just as I did in the L.A. riots in 1992.

I know it's hard for many to even understand the amount of anger these folks are feeling.
This isn't about 1 handcuffed black man being killed by cops.

This is about 400 yrs of abuse, terror and death.

When people took a knee in silent protest after Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin and others, they were labeled Anti-American and traitors and NOTHING changed.

When people see that carrying signs, marching, chanting some cute little rhymes (wow, you really showed some class) doesn't change things, then what? THIS!

How many of you have been pulled over and had guns drawn on you because you looked like you didn't belong in that neighborhood or didn't look like you should be driving the car you're driving?

How many of you have been followed around a store while you were just shopping?

How many of you have been chased down and had guns pulled on you because you looked like you up to no good?

Unless you've lived your life in fear just because of your skin color, it's hard to understand how these folks feel.

I get it, I'm a white guy...well, Italian/Spanish/Welch but, I've had people do horrible things to me and my family because they thought my Italian mother was Mexican.

We were living in Springfield, MO. in the late 1970's.
Me (long hair and tanned), my mom (a small, dark haired woman) and her Blond, blued eyed husband (my stepdad). I came home one day and found our 2 cats and 2 dogs had been poisoned and were dead. The people who did it, left a note on our door saying MEXICANS GET OUT!!! I wanted to burn the entire town to the ground, instead, we just moved away.

So, yeah, I'm a bit more sympathetic to the plight of these people.

I'm sorry to those of you who simply can't imagine what these people feel because you've never been made to feel the way they do.

Flame away!
I was a young Black man attending college Cal Poly Pomona in the early 80s and all of the above to me during that. Getting followed by security or police is not uncommon still and I will be 60 in about three weeks. I also was an law enforcement officer for 23 years.

I'm not trying to say the officer acted properly or not - just that I haven't seen all the evidence. My gut feeling is that the officer unnecessarily killed someone, but I'm in no position to say for sure. If he is guilty, all three four are.

LMAO, I will say it! Their actions were not only improper they are criminal. In this case of a smoke and gun the person holding the gun did it!

There needs to be quick and speedy trial. Not a kangaroo curt but we won't be able to move beyond the protests and the violence until it is done.

We are nation divided and that is not about Black, White, Red, Yellow or Brown. It is about power and money. We are all being manipulated.

The cops were called to investigate the passing of a phony $20 bill, even the merchant said he didn't know if Mr. Floyd knew the bill was bogus...we'll never know either. Maybe he did but, it shouldn't have merited a death sentence carried out by the cops.

Have you seen the several videos, from different angles? They're online.

In all that I've seen, I've not seen one that showed Mr. Floyd resisting.

The most devastating video is 10 mins. long and was taken by a young girl.

4 cops on on top of him, he's cuffed, face down on the pavement.
The cops are telling him to get up and get in the car but, HE CAN'T MOVE, he's pinned to the ground. It was almost as though they were taunting him.

He's crying out, because he can't breath and not one cop says or does a damn thing. Why didn't they just put him in the car?

7 mins in, Mr. Floyd becomes totally unresponsive yet, the cop kept his full body weight pressing down on Mr. Floyd's neck for the last 3 mins, with his hand comfortably tucked into his pocket as people begged him to get off.

Mr Floyd has a little girl who will have to live the rest of her life not only without her daddy but, with the awful images of him dying on camera as people begged for the cops to stop. My heart breaks for her.

BTW, the cop pressing his knee into Mr. Floyd's neck has at least 18 complaints filed against him for abusive behavior toward people of color.
This makes me want to believe his intent was clear...He wanted to kill Mr. Floyd.

No one is defending that waste of oxygen. But hit action do not mean it's ok to destroy entire cities and attack other people just trying to got through the day.

Agreed. The looting and destruction is not helping the cause.

Those doing those things are in the minority. The majority are there for the right reasons.

There're always punks that use these events for their own agenda.

Not defending bad behavior as this could have all been avoided if the cops simply did their job. I feel for my brothers in blue. Bad cops put them all at risk and their jobs are hard enough as it is.

It certainly looks like the officer is in the wrong, but I've seen a lot of things that turned out to be different than what they first appeared to be. I'm willing to wait until all the evidence is in. If an investigation/trial shows he is guilty, I would not be against a sentence of capital punishment - and the officers that stood by and did nothing are culpable as well.

Looks like fvcking murder because thats what it is. Murder 3 is letting him off light to begin with. That is still not reason enough to be burning cities and attacking people trying to get down a public roads.

Here are a few thoughts and truths that I have come across. I hope that you can find empathy, but hope has only gotten us here today:

Quote:
1940’s and earlier: Yup, black men get killed by any ol person just cuz. No arrests, thats just the way things are.

1950’s a wife shares a story that she thinks her husband, a black man, was murdered by a cop. No arrests, she’s just one crazy lady with no proof or backing.

1960’s it’s well known in a community that that officer killed that black man, no arrests, should have had eye witnesses step forward.

1970’s here’s a first hand account of a group of people that say cops murdered a black man, they all corroborate and it seems like clear cut proof. No arrests, should have had a photo as evidence.

1980’s here’s a photo that shows cops murdering a black man that looks like clear cut proof. No arrests, should have been video.

1990’s here’s grainy home video that shows cops murdering a black man that looks like clear cut proof. No arrests, should have been a stationary camera with a better, more consistent angle.

2000’s here’s a security camera that shows cops murdering a black man that looks like clear cut proof. No arrests, we don’t know what the dude was threatening or saying.

2010’s here’s a dozen camera phones and the officers’ body cams all showing different angles of the same incident that shows cops murdering a black man that looks like clear cut proof. No arrests, the whole thing happened so fast, the officers made quick split second decisions.

2020: here we have one in slow motion, clear video, audio, names, faces, the entire encounter, no threats and only a man asking for half of the weight of the officer to be removed from his neck so he could breathe.

Let’s see how this one plays out. Probably should have had 3D Smell-o-vision or something, ah well, we’ll get em next time.... right? Right?

I don’t have my hopes up. Incredibly sad to see.
Quote:
Its always the response when people try to discuss these issues.

Why dont they take care of their own.

Why cant they just get jobs.

Why cant they just stop dealing drugs.

Why cant they stop killing each other.

Why cant they just stop looting.

Why do they need to protest, they have the same opportunities others have.

So many people that just dont take the time to look back at the history of black people and see the amount of obstacles and resistence they keep facing.

I mean the latest protests themselves, you have people dismissing very real issues because some few unknown people do something bad. AND there are so many reports of undercover police being caught in instigating the riot breakouts, just so they can dismantle the protesters and force their authority over them. But the people still respond with. I just think they shouldn't loot. Its not right. Edit: SOURCE 09.

Then there are well known long term strategies of alt-right, right-wing, radical right, and nazi and white supremacy groups who all know and share their ideas for advancement of their ideology. To inject themselves into authoritative positions in LE and Government and prioritize like minded individuals to join so to slowly over time take over institutions.

Although the institution of the police has always been draped with racism. Its begging wasnt from some noble cause to protect people. It was to intimidate and threaten, arrest and police the property of the ruling class, the slavers.

Its never been "protect and serve" the public. Its a ******* motto that was mailed in a competition in 1950s by some random cop and they stuck that **** to the side of the police cars for publicity. source 01.

The whole institution itself is the issue. Its essence is tainted from its origin. Look up Pig Laws. Thats what the police is for. Thats what they were created to enforce. source 02.

To maintain a control on minorities to ensure that they could keep black people enslaved even after the civil war. By instituting various laws that would be almost solely used on black people to ensure that they could not escape the slave states and be in return imprisoned by these new pig laws , such as

Riding a train is illegal while black.

Walking next to the railroad while black is illegal.

Riding a horse is illegal.

Leaving a job without completing it regardless of pay or not, is illegal.

Seeking a new job without the permission of the old job boss, is illegal.

Not having a job is illegal.

Loitering while black is illegal.

Testifying against a white is illegal.

They essentially created so many asinine ******** laws that ended up re-enslaving thousands of black people. People who wanted to escape these slave states were caught by the POLICE and then locked up, then laws allowed the police to send prisoners out for "work-programs" at plantations. source 03.

Funny how that all worked out huh. Everything back to its place.

Eventually as time goes by, many of the few moments where black people were able to rise up and persevere, ended up with white slavers either killing or destroying their growth. So to bring them back again.

Around the 1900s there was a Black Wallstreet. Did you know that? There were cities with black professionals, educated black families, little to no crimes, well off, well supported. They had communities flourishing and growing. To the degree that Black people had their own BANK. Yes a Fully Black owned Bank in 1900s. Source 04.

Do you know what happened?

White slavers and KKK bombed burned killed and beat the town to dust. All that progress they took it away because it went against their preaching of how blacks were inferior. So they destroyed towns, they went to black politicians who made progress and dragged them out and beat them some were treated worse. It took four to six decades before black people had representation again in the government. Source 05. Source 06.

An accusation of sexual assault was the match that ignited the smoldering hatred and resentment of the thriving Black Wall Street community. The accusation inspired a lynch mob, which included nearly 2,000 Ku Klux Klan members who wanted to get “justice.” Everything came crashing down on Black Wall Street on May 31, 1921. In just 16 hours, police had arrested 60% of Black residents living in Black Wall Street. Mobs burned Black owned businesses and homes, and murdered hundreds of Black citizens. When Black men joined forces to protect their homes, they were ultimately driven out in fear for their lives. By today’s estimates, the dreadful and murderous 16 hours caused more than $30 million in damages. The residents of Greenwood were blamed for the death and destruction, and the government made it nearly impossible to rebuild.

Then came the jim crow laws. Source 07.

Then came ******* nixon sealed the devils deal.

Nixon domestic advisor was proud to announce publicly that they were lying about drugs in black neighborhoods so that they could police black neighborhoods and arrest and beat their leaderships and disrupt any organization and collective power building that those minority groups could achieve. This guy gleefully stated that they would DELIBERATELY portray black people as heroin and drug abusers thugs and gangsters to align white people with republican ideologies. Source 08.

its ******* absurd the level of resistance minorities continue to face because of greedy old men.

Tomorrow marks the 99TH Year Anniversary of the Tulsa Race "Riots". For anyone who want to learn more i suggest watching this [10min video to get a brief overview.] (video below)

But the truth is, the real brutality of that night, cant even be imagined.

Just take 1 min of your day right now and TRY to imagine if you were there. If you had been woken up to 2,000+ people wanting to destroy you, to humiliate you, to take everything from you. If you were dragged out, beaten, seeing your neighbours, friends and family being lynched. Dragged Beaten, Raped, Humiliated, Murdered.

That helplessness you are just TRYING to imagine, is something people still go through in this day and age. It the helplessness that people like George Floyd are unfortunate to experience.

August 1619: The White Lion, a 160-ton Dutch privateer ship flying a British flag landed at Comfort Point in Virginia loaded with “20. and odd negroes” to be exchanged for food and the “best and easiest rates...”

1636: Boston creates the “Night Watch” which would become the first police force in America.

June 1640: Virginia’s General Court created what many are calling the nation’s first slave when the court condemned John Punch, an African, to a life sentence of servitude because he was black. Punch, one of the original White Lion Africans, had run away from his master along with an indentured Dutch servant and an indentured English servant. When they were found and brought back to their master, a judge ordered the three absconders to be whipped 30 times apiece. The Dutchman and the Englishmen were sentenced to a one-year extension on their indentured servitude contract. But John Punch received a different sentence:

1669: Virginia’s legislature passes “an act about the casuall killing of slaves.” According to the new law, masters who kill their slaves in the act of punishing them are held not to be responsible of murder.

1704: South Carolina creates the first modern-day, public police force. Called “slave patrols,” these publicly-funded organizations served three functions: 1) to chase down, apprehend, and return runaway slaves to their owners; (2) to provide a form of organized terror to deter slave revolts; and, (3) to maintain a form of discipline for slave-workers who violated rules.

Sept. 9, 1739: “Jemmy” a literate, enslaved Kongolese warrior in South Carolina organizes an uprising against whites that results in 25 colonists and 35 to 50 Africans being killed. The Stono Rebellion was the largest revolt in the British Mainland colonies.

April 1740: After the Stono Rebellion, South Carolina passes The Negro Law of 1740, making it illegal for enslaved Africans to leave the US, assemble in groups, grow food, earn money, and learn to write. The law also gave slaveowners permission to kill rebellious slaves and it remained in effect until 1865.

[Black Americans had for more than a century before been regarded as beings of an inferior order, and altogether unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations; and so far inferior, that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect.

Jan. 1877: Following mass violence against African Americans and widespread voter fraud, a group of US senators and congressmen agree to settle the result of the 1876 presidential election. In exchange for installing Rutherford B. Hayes as president, the cabal’s compromise allowed Southern States to subjugate black citizens, or, as the History Channel notes:
The end of federal interference in southern affairs led to widespread disenfranchisement of blacks voters. From the late 1870s onward, southern legislatures passed a series of laws requiring the separation of whites from “persons of color” on public transportation, in schools, parks, restaurants, theaters and other locations. Known as the “Jim Crow laws” (after a popular minstrel act developed in the antebellum years), these segregationist statutes governed life in the South through the middle of the next century, ending only after the hard-won successes of the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

Summer, 1919: Widespread “riots” break out across the US when black veterans return from World War I with notions of equality. Many of these riots involve police officers and few of the participants of the white lynch mobs were convicted.

Aug. 28, 1955: 14-year-old Emmett Till is kidnapped, tortured, killed, wrapped with barbed wire and thrown into the Tallahatchie River in Money, Miss. after Carolyn Bryant tells a white lie. His murderers are never convicted, even after publicly confessing to the crime.

All is fair love an war. African Americans have been killed at the hand of White's since we were brought to this country. A Black life counted for nothing and has remained such to this day. The charge is too light.

Don't get me wrong I am not about fighting evil with evil but with extreme righteousness. The bad actors are just that and then there are thos that are just tiered of it all. How many of us have to die before real change occurs. I can tell you so many stories of what I have witnessed, prejudice being aimed at my parents and myself. I have heard their stories. My dad was born in 1906 so his stories and lessons ring loud in my ear. My grandmother on my mom's side also told us of her experiences.

Even with all of that my parents thought me and two brothers to judge people as we would want to be judged and that is by our character. It is why I love this forum. We are as diverse as the country we live in and love and community abound.

Far to light. The other 3 should be charged with murder 3 for standing by and letting it happen. The one who did it should get the chair, or dropped into one of these riots naked.
