The New “What did you do with your Z today” (with off topic replies) XXXVI

Actually catching a bit of a break today. Heads up on anyone buying new lawnmowers. Some have a oil level sensor in them now. If you cut on hilly terrain.

The engine may shut off on you because the oil moved away from the sensor. Have 4 lawnmowers going back to the vendor because of this. The lawnmowers are perfect, nothing wrong with them. Around here, some yards are vertical. The 2stroke Lawn Boys was a big seller around here for years. You could turn those up side down and they would still run.

Wifey fired me from lawn work. Fresh clippings triggered a cluster headache every time. Apparently she wasn’t cool with me being in that level of pain just to save $100 a month.

Cluster migraines are no joke. I got them bad in my 20s.
I have only had 1 since the exwife and I split. That was within months of that event.

Mine are pretty much in check. Turns out most of my issues where diet. Cut out a few things and I’ve been pretty good. I think the lawn work is a combo of me being allergic to grass clips and extreme Texas heat.

What get's to you? Milk products late at night do me in. Alcohol is very sparingly and not very often.

Mine is cumulative. If I stay away from most wheat products, aged dairy (mostly cheeses) and limit my red meat intake, I’m usually pretty good. Again it’s cumulative, so I can eat whatever the hell I want, say on a Saturday, and dial it back in for the rest of the week and have no issues. For me it comes down to try and limit the things that are hard to digest. I eat a lot of fruit/veggies and chicken/pork.

Alcohol is a major trigger but it doesn’t cause the headaches. If I’m in a cycle where I’m getting them, then alcohol triggers them almost every time.

It also helps that if I do get one, oxygen therapy knocks it out in 15 mins.

Is that like autoerotic asphyxiation?

Honda has been using oil alert sensors in their small engines for a long time. 20+ years.

My grandfather had a few lawn boys before string trimmers were a thing. The exhaust look like it ran a 10:1 mix

I have a Honda that I bought in 2011. No sensor in it. Briggs, Honda, and a few others started to use the sensor a few years ago. Now, almost every on has the sensor.

I know of people who removed the handle on their LawnBoys, and attached a rope to it. Stand at the top of the hill and lower the lawn mower down and then pull it back up. Steep yard.
