I was just pointing out that it looked like felines were more prone to contracting the virus. So it would make sense that you might start seeing cases outside the domesticated species. Speaking of those felines in captivity, of course.

The likelihood of wild animals catching the virus is probably low. And I don't think anyone is out there capturing wild lions and tigers to test them for covid. If they are, fck them, humans need those tests lol

That would be called "thinning the herd" (and I'm not talking about the cats)! LOL

Interesting in that SARS-CoV-2 is a betacoronavirus, which felines are not normally susceptible to.

Some zoos have contingency plans ranking the animals. So they know which ones to feed to the others if food becomes scarce.

Supposedly, the original strand of covid-19 has mutated "at least 30 times" according to the media. Not sure how valid this is, but, it can't be a good sign when it mutates at all.

Sometimes, viruses can mutate in a way that does not benefit them. That might explain why they can suddenly disappear, or how you get milder or more severe strains.

It can also make chasing cures and vaccines more challenging.

Oxford University has just begun clinical trials of a possible vaccine. Fingers crossed!
