They evacuated US Citizens that were in China and quarantined them at Travis AF base in Northern California. I wouldnt be surprised if after the quarantine period ended and they showed no symptoms that they are still infectious.

50+ cases from that nursing home in WA. Another case out in the Chicago burbs - hopefully not my burb.

I read that you can be infectious, and never come down with it. :icon14:

From the numbers I've seen. Younger then 10 yrs old doen't get it. but from 10 yrs old and up. The older you are. The more likely you are going to get it. 70 and up are getting hit the hardest. Plus those in poor health.

BettyZ 03-01-2020 02:55 PM

Whelp. All jokes aside. Heard from a reliable source that the Illinois case is @ the hospital in my town.

That's what skews the total reported number of cases to an unrealistic low number. Which leads to an inaccurately high mortality rate (currently reported in the 2% range).

If you don't know you have it, then you're most likely asymptomatic and will not get tested.

Ok, carry on. :tiphat:

Nope! This sounds like an EXCELLENT time to panic. If nothing else it's good for the arteries. Keeps 'em supple.

The RO number is something like 6.2 to 7%. Which is high. Needs to be below 1%.

It's going to get worse. :(

Seen one video from the outside of one store where people are cleaning it out. One guy was trying to stuff his minivan full of bottled water. He had so much that it wouldn't all fit inside of it. :shakes head:

A good water filtration system would do it.

You would want to save those IPA's as a last resort or the celebrate the fact that you survived.

Stagnant as can be... with tons of mallards frequenting it daily. Can you smell the freshness??? :ugh2:

Yeah, I'll give it a test run given your suggestion. :yum:

Fox News just reported that the virus is now in Florida and there are two cases, one in Manatee County and the other in Hillsborough County, which is where I’m located. Yippee.....

So for those in Florida, how does this work? Do we stock up like there’s a hurricane coming our way during hurricane season?

I work in the airline industry and although I think that precaution should be taken, the media is definitely blowing this out of proportion. Remember these?....

Soon, those in quarantine will be the uninfected.

You can run, but you can't hide.

Are they Italian or been to Italy? This thing has the potential to depopulate most of Asia and Europe....

Pinellas wins again! Guess I'll go get a few jugs of water today.

I wish I had kept my m25a1 and m17 gas masks. We drilled so much that from the time we got an alarm to the time I had the mask on and sealed was about 2-4 seconds.

M17's are going for about $60 on eBay. I didn't look for the filters. The new one is the M40, it has a canister that will fit on either side to accommodate left & right handed shooters...

If it makes it down this way, I'm just planning to wait for some nearby household to contract it, infect the whole family, and die. Then I'll raid their food and water stores

turtle64b 03-02-2020 09:14 AM

Just FYI, the masks are really only good for those who are already infected to prevent them from spreading the infection.

Mortality rate is below 2% last I saw, so if you are a healthy person, you will likely take it like you would the normal flu.

Keep some hand sanitizer in your car, use disinfectant wipes every one and awhile on things you touch everyday, and things like that will help reduce the risk of getting it, but it is contagious before symptoms present, which makes it difficult to get under control.

How will you take it if you're like JAR and suffer from acute clitoral grainulosis?

~2% is the mortality rate. Its unknown the number of unreported infections, but you can be sure there are quite a few. Perhaps even some that have been exposed, had mild symptoms, and make a full recovery. With that in mind, that would bring that mortality rate down even lower.

Rusty 03-02-2020 11:15 AM

Problem is that China is not telling the whole story. :shakes head:
