Getting back on track... from the WSJ:
“Captain, that appears to be an iceberg.” “Don’t panic, officer, full steam ahead.” “Admiral, concentrating our entire fleet in one port seems tempting fate.” “We don’t need your alarmist fantasies, ensign.” “We’re picking up increased chatter about an al Qaeda action.” “Your hand-wringing is duly noted.” “Don’t panic,” in the current atmosphere, is a way of shutting up people who are using their imaginations as a protective tool. It’s an implication of cowardice by cowards. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |
People are calling our shipping/receiving department at the hospital and trying to get them to sell hand sanitizer cases to them off the trucks.

Pornhub is giving away a months premium membership to Italians while they are in quarantine. Need to see if my VPN has Italian servers. :icon17:

Went to Smart and Final yesterday to pick up a few things I needed for the dish I was making. Canned goods shelves were empty (except for beans and canned veggies), EVERYONE had 40roll boxes of TP in their carts, cases of water. Every checkout counter was open and still had about 6 people in each line. Never seen that store so busy, even during the peak holiday season.
Gf went to get puppy training treats later at another grocery store. She said that place was the same... |
Covid-19 is such a dumb name. It needs a handle with a better ring to it. Like China Flu.

Hmm well I got a call from my boss late last night, apparently our CEO is instating some emergency protocols. All office personnel (including yours truly) will start working from home next week. No end date given. Interesting.

I'm seeing some deliveries being affected at work. It's taking longer to have stuff shipped.

I posted this in the other thread yesterday. The panic mob cleaned out the local wally world of TP, cleaning supplies, and some food. After they left there. They cleaned out our store of TP, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. We are limiting customers to 2 cases of bottled water. Seeing them buying 2 cases, taking them out to the car. Coming back in, getting 2 more, and then going to a different cashier.

From the NYT:
In their emergency planning documents, Washington State officials lay out an escalating 13-step strategy to contain an infectious disease outbreak, a playbook that is common to public health officials around the world. The first recommendation has been heard often in recent weeks: Increase handwashing. But the state has moved through the checklist with wrenching speed over the past two weeks. The Seattle area has already ticked off No. 10, limiting large public gatherings, and part of No. 11, the closing of schools and public buildings, Ms. Durkan noted. Another part of No. 11 calls for closing workplaces, and No. 12 calls for the government to “prevent nonemergency travel outside of the home.” The final step says: “Establish cordon sanitaire.” Under international health policies, these are controlled zones, guarded by the authorities, to restrict movement into and out of infected areas. |
