Rusty,Got yourself a rare ginger huh? i did too. Not sure of the percentage though.

vtec to vvel: People organize and place things in groups or associations for preservation. Has been going on for eternity. Not making excuses for this, as we should be smarter than our ancestors. I'll buy you the hat" I'm not chinese okay dumbass".
if you record on FBL. I want to wear a red hat in LA that says " It's just a red hat dumbass." The reactions will be gold.

Today's update. Be a while before a vaccine is made.

China is going through great efforts to disinfect entire cities, I don't think it's as contained as they say it is.

As others said, incubation period, surface life, etc. Can you imagine all the planes that are carrying the infection around? Hope this is settled with soon.

Rusty 02-24-2020 07:53 AM

China, 780 million in quarantine. They basically gave up on reporting the numbers. Iran, 50 dead. This is starting to spread fast outside of China. No vaccines. More reports that this came out of a lab.

World stock markets are selling off like I thought they would. Nothing is being shipped. The ships are sitting in ports and outside of them. There is no one to load and off load them. Food is spoiling on the docks and on the ships.

When the virus takes hold in this country. It will rip through the homeless fast. You will see the dead in the streets. California will get hit hard.

I ordered some long term emergency food from My Patriot Supply on the 14th. I got an e-mail from them.

"We want to thank you again for your recent order and give you an update on its status. We understand good communication is important to you.

My Patriot Supply continues to experience 10x normal demand for our preparedness products. This continues to cause a shipping delay for approximately 70% of orders.

For most orders being delayed, including yours, they’re taking about 7-10 days to ship. Our teams across our multiple warehouses are working around the clock to produce, pack, and ship our shelf-stable food products as quickly as possible.

In a small handful of cases, orders may take up to 14 days before shipping. We apologize for this delay and thank you for your patience as we navigate these unprecedented times.

As you probably have heard by now, My Patriot Supply is known for being the industry leader in delivery speed, and we still are. We promise we’re working hard to get back to normal 2-day delivery as quickly as possible."

I've talked to others. And other suppliers are totally sold out

Dang dude, you got some fear mongering going on there.

Not really. Just reporting on what going on. Why be blind to it. Just look at past history. The 1919 Spanish Flu. Kill millions. This could kill even more. MSM is starting to report more about the virus now.

Grocery stores still have plenty of rice, beans, etc.

I live in Tornado Alley and like to keep a few weeks worth of food and water stashed away. Over the last few years, I've bumped that up to about a two months supply. I'm not buying in to all the gloom and doom (yet) but I'm no expert on epidemics so I'm starting to stock even more. Better safe than sorry.

Edit: You can find a lot of slightly used camping equipment (stoves, lanterns, heaters, etc) at garages sales for cheap. Hard to go wrong with Coleman brand equipment - a friend and I have quite a lot of Coleman stuff from the 1950s-1990s that still works great and spare parts are easy to find.

I've been snowed in, had the power go out, had to boil water. It's no fun when chit runs low. I have about 2 months supply on hand.

Grocery stores in some countries are empty. People panic and start mass buying. This is one of the reasons I like to have a stock on hand.

After getting the initial few weeks supply (not a lot for one adult and two dogs), it's been a bag of beans here, some salt there, a box of Mason jars every now and then, etc. I haven't caused any dips in the supply. :)

I also keep a good supply of batteries for flashlights and radios.

I have a couple containers of Mountain House. The stuff is pretty tasty. I use it on my hunting trips. I ordered some from Patriot Supply to try out. I have a couple bags of beans and rice to add to the other stuff. Also have ramon noddles and cup of soups.

I was on Amazon a few weeks ago trying to order some hand sanitizer for my brother. Seems all the sellers had a 1 month shipping time window :icon14:

This is obvious to a lot of people but some just don't get it: The time to plan for a catastrophe is before it happens. You can't plan for everything but a good supply of water, food, heat, and light will get you through most emergencies. You don't have to become a SHTF prepper, just enough to get you and your family through the aftermath of tornadoes, ice storms, quakes, etc. Depending on how bad you think things can get, you might want to keep a few guns and some ammo, too. If you have trees around your house, a chain saw and fuel could come in handy to remove them from your house and/or cut firewood for heat.

user123 02-26-2020 10:24 AM

Good afternoon. This is not the first year that I am interested in the world of cyber competition and everything related to making money through computer games. Perhaps this is really a profitable business, because even the famous football player Antoine Griezmann created an e-sports organization. I even wanted to become a member of the game team, but a sudden pandemic of the coronavirus prevented me. I noticed that coronavirus affects business and the global economy more. Many more people die from the flu every year. I am sure that the Chinese authorities simply created a great panic in the world.

That is true, at this point, but the number of new nCoV cases outside China is going up at an increasing rate (see https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/a...23467b48e9ecf6). I can't predict how bad it will or will not get, but it's not over.

Also have some gasoline, bleach, and some 91% isopropyl alcohol and maybe some sort of water filtration system

Got it. For bleach, use unscented. Plus you have to watch out. It has a short shelf life.

Thanks Russ, didn’t know that ! Looked it up 6/9 months @ a stable 60/70 degrees

What do you use the 91% isopropyl for? Fuel? I keep a couple of gallons of denatured alcohol for emergency fuel and general use around the house.

We use to get 8,000 gals of sodium hypochlorite at the plant. We had to use it up with up 3 months before it would start to weaken.

Came across a video explaining on how the virus is spreading to different countries. Almost all airlines have stop flights to and from China, but for one The Thailand airline is still flying in and out of Wuhan. The Chinese are fling out using this airline to Thailand. Then from Thailand to other parts of the world. This is how the Chinese is getting around the ban.

Water filtration system. I have a couple of different types that I got from Cabela's. Hand pump, gravity fed, and a couple of Life Straws. When we travel. We always have a Life Straw with us. When we go on a cruise. That's the first thing I pack.

I need to get some type of filtering system. For home use so it doesn't need to be very portable. There is a drainage ditch behind my house that could come in handy if my water supply runs out. Probably significant amounts of hydrocarbons and other crap from street runoff so would need carbon media or something similar. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the leads!

I'm not sure the units labeled as being for camping would be big enough for what I want. If things get bad enough that I'm pulling water from the ditch, I'm probably going to be supplying water to other people.

The Lifestraw Community in all-metal construction would be what I'm imagining I need/want. But metal may be going a little overboard; plastic might be OK. I'll definitely be investigating the LC further.

I've also been looking at stills. A pressure cooker and some copper tubing would work and be easy to put together in an emergency but would use a lot of valuable fuel.
A solar still wouldn't need any fuel but it looks like a unit to supply 6 -12 people would be too large to be practical unless the installation were permanent.

I may need to scale back on the specs and go for something just big enough for the dogs and I. :)

A solar set up large enough to supply 120v through an inverter and batteries is a permanent set up on your roof.

For stills. Check out Mile High Stills. Have a friend that has the stainless still with a thumper. :yum: I almost bought one for myself. :rofl2:

I'm not too worried about bombs but I would like to have a storm shelter in the back yard (for the frequent tornadoes we get) but I hit water at about 6". :( Terrible for a storm shelter but it means there is always some water in the ditch.

When I win the Powerball, I'm going to buy some land that's a lot drier. :)
