We would catch small turtles when using live bait. Ive never had one hit on artificial before. That had to feel like a snag at first.

Depends on how it's cooked. But the meat isn't going to be tender, especially in larger chunks. It's generally tough and stringy. But the cooks were always moms of a few campers, a lot of whom were from Louisiana. In this particular instance, the meat was basically shredded. The spices and vegetables are what really made it good.

I also love fried reptiles of all sorts

It felt like a damn log lol... just dragging it slowly. It barely even pulled. The spoon was so mangled, I just cut it off and hooked the side of his shell to drag him up the hill.
