I didn’t think about this earlier but if you won’t have a foundation that is below the frost line, then it’s going to heave. I probably wouldn’t tie this into you’re existing house.

Do they get much frost that far south? Not saying I would attach this as is but it might not move much.

You also have to consider expansive soils. I don’t know anything about the soils in the Carolina’s but from the pictures it seemed like he had a basement, which means that foundation is way below the ones he’s building for the extension. Either way, it’s going to settle.

You can always surcharge the virgin soil to force the settlement before you apply the final lid, but that ship has sailed on this project.

Mostly sand & clay where I’m at

We don’t see long freezes,,,hardly ever gets below freezing & stays there all day

Since you're the SME on this subject. I got a question. My froze line is 36". If I build a garage with a 8" thick with rebar concrete floor. How far down would I have to go?
