Uploaded some pics of the sled and a couple of pics of the garage (couldn't upload more than five pics). Nissan 370Z Forum - SouthArk370Z's Album: Sled and Garage

Yeah. I'm a crappy photographer. Sorry about that. Let me know if you need some closeups of the sled.

Had a Volvo in the garage the last few days, so I didn't get much done. Buddy's wife's car. He rebuilt the Park/Neutral switch. I did the important stuff like hold the light. :)

Did manage to set up a laptop with a larger screen for playing music - now we can see the titles from across the garage.

Plan on getting up early tomorrow so we can remove junk from the attic and install some insulation before it gets too hot. Put a remote temp sensor up there and it registered 120*F this afternoon.

Mount a TV somewhere in your garage and stream from the Laptop.streaming stuff while doing car work would be sweet...

Idk, I thought maybe you older folks would prefer non-stop episodes of I Love Lucy or someone enthusiastically (but not TOO enthusiastically) explaining the benefits of Medicare Part D supplemental coverage.

No Intertubes in the garage. :( Don't like to keep wifi turned on and too lazy to run a cable.

Got up early and my buddy cut styrofoam while I crawled around in the attic, took measurements, and installed panels. Got about 30 feet of styrofoam installed (out of about 500 feet needed). It's a start.

How are you coming on this project?
Started to hang OSB over the insulation batts in mine.

Been on hiatus for a while. I've done a little cleanup/neatening here and there but haven't accomplished much. Was going to put some single-faced fiberglass in the ceiling Tuesday (cool and rainy outside because of Barry) but my helper's truck fried the ignition control module so we ended up working on that (diagnosis took a lot longer than it should have; we're both old-school points kind of shade-tree mechanics). We'll make another stab at the insulation next time we have a good rain.

I like the OSB.

Edit: We were quite literally shade-tree mechanics when working on his truck; it was sitting under an oak tree. :)

It was cool yesterday morning so I got up in the attic to lay down some fiberglass. Found out that several of the boards that PO had laid down to walk on were too thin to hold my weight so I ended up rearranging boards until it got too hot in the attic. Will make another stab at it tomorrow morning.

Amazing how much hotter it gets just a little ways up. I did a little wiring today on the light fixtures and I was sweating up a storm while up there.

My buddy and I got about a third of the ceiling insulated over the weekend. He's on his way over to see if we can get some more done today.

SouthArk370Z 07-29-2019 02:16 PM

About half-way done with insulating the ceiling. Part of the ceiling had already been done with about 4-5" of what looks like scraps from where they did the living area ceiling. I've run out of fiberglass and plan to take a break from the attic for a while.

Put some of the styrofoam that I installed/removed from the ceiling into the garage door panels. R-19 in the ceiling and about R-5.75 (2 x 2.89) on the door.

Did some general clean-up and rearranging. Sorted my scrap metal into an Al and light gauge steel bin, and a heavier steel bin. Cut some of the boards I took down from the attic and made shelves for the computer cabinet after removing tape sled. Started cleaning up an old shop vac that may or may not still run. Cleaned the filter on my other shop vac (it was embarrassingly dirty). Put an old laser printer on the curb; maybe someone will salvage it before city hauls it away. Will drag the tape sled to the curb when I have more energy.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the progress we made today. :)

Excellent progress!

I haven't even broken ground but the Danmar M6 is ordered. My next big purchase/decision is do I get a 1.5 ton split unit air conditioner or just rely on an oscillating 24" high velocity fan.

I do a lot of welding projects and given the climate I live in I'm destined to just sweat to death. Fans will blow away shielding gas and if I run AC I need to sort out some sort of extractor hood so the fumes don't kill me. I may just mount a small 12" fan on the underside of the welding table so at least my torso can soak up some breeze.
