Brother in law is a housing inspector out there. Said the cheapest house he has looked in the last year was around 400,000. And that was a started home.

My best friends parents have a house in the Silicone Valley. Modest 4 bdrm, ~2k-3k sqft, 40 year old house...alot of their neighbors sold for 1mil+.

The guy and I did speak about the legalization of it out there. He said that now there are young kids holding signs asking for handouts so they can buy their doobs for the day. I would rather deal with someone stoned than somebody who has a fifth of Jack in him.
Legalize it.
Tax the hell out it.
Use some of the money to go after narcotics like Meth, Heroin and Fentanyl.

My brother lives in San Fransisco.They moved there in late 70s so his wife could be closer to her folks.
Bought house for $225,000 in late 70s.
That was a lot.
The live in San Fransisco proper which is not that big.House valued today at 4 million.
House down the street that was in rough shape sold for 3 million.New owners then tore it down and built new house.
