My grandpa was 80 when he got his first knee replacement. It allowed him to continue playing tennis for a number of years. When his other knee started to go, he didn't even hesitate to get the surgery. Different doctor and it didn't go well. It was replaced twice through a number of surgeries and sidelined him for good and was always his bad knee from then on.

I'm still using my OEM knees, (fingers crossed) and I hope to for many years to come. :happydance:

Joint replacements depends on how fit you are at the time of surgery and you mental state. I was walking the next day and out of the hospital the day after that. Back to work in 5 weeks. From talking with other people with joint replacements. The hip is easier to recover from then a knee. The worst thing to happen is to have the replacement done twice. Had mine done in 2003. So it's been 16 yrs. I take care of myself. I watch my weight. Being heavy isn't good. Try not to over do PT, low impact is the best. No running. That will wear out replacements faster then you think.

Been a busy day.
Come home from work. Get a bite to eat. Go horizontal in my lazyboy for 2 hrs. Get up, and go to my brothers house. Finish sawing down a tree from the storm the other day. Changed a flat tire on his truck. Drank a few beers. Get the folding chairs out and set them up in his front yard and watched the firework show from the local park.

It has been a crappy 2 months here. Not happy at all. I have 2 dogs at UGA for a necropsy trying to gives us an answer of what has happened to them. The Vet has his suspicion but we need to know for a fact. Lost another dog yesterday and one is on the way down today. Vet said there is nothing we can do. I feel helpless as hell and now I am getting very angry. The feelings my wife and I have are indescribable. Before anyone stats what they think we should have done, just stop. You are not helping. It is in the experts hands. My rainbow bridge has just filled up beyond capacity and the man up stairs will need to build a bigger one. My wife and I both are in tears.
