Spent another day shoveling mulch. 48 scoops now. $1200 worth...

It’s lots of fun....

Also took time out to blast the flying rats a few times.

Weapon of choice today was the Roman Candles

Thanks! I've had my eye set on US 191, the Devil's Highway, for some time now, but the last two attempts were busts.

I do have a two-week vacay coming in August and I'll be in Wyoming for half of that and driving wherever for the other half, so I might leave the West for then and concentrate more on what's east of the Mississippi River.

For your general fund of knowledge there are around 151 National Scenic Byways in 'Murica and I've driven over half of them... looking to crush the rest of the list in the next two or three years.

It's a 2004 ES330. The thermostat is kinda deep but easy work getting there. Took about 10 minutes to get 60% of the way there. Need to put the car up on jack stands so I can drain the coolant (have to buy more stands - the Z is Bogarting them right now and I gave my extras away). Once the coolant is drained I can start removing the remaining hoses and get to the housing.

Need to figure out the best route for removing the radiator, but it looks like it's just a few bolts to remove the to bracket so I can slide the radiator and fan shroud up and out. I'll probably wait to do the remaining work until parts show up. New Denso radiator runs <$60 at Rock Auto

You need more than 1 “Bung-Hole”

That should be a good torture test for the 34 row oil cooler... if the tires don't melt off I DIY'd a CoolShirt system specifically for weather like that. If you make big blocks of ice to fill the cooler it lasts all day, and then re-freezes overnight. The feeling of ice-cold water running next to your skin on a hot-*** day in a hot-*** car may be the second-best feeling I've ever had

Feels weird being home this early
Definitely can tell I’ve been resting better; as these 100* days haven’t bothered me as much this week

At $50 for both that definitely sounds like a good investment just in case... hell it's worth it just to not have to remove the TPs in the future to take them to get welded, much less the actual cost of welding.

Youre right. That would be a good test.

What we used to do to keep bottled water somewhat cool in the desert was get a sock, soak it in water (and keep it wet as the day goes on), and put the bottled water in the wet sock. Worked great!
