Well, shìt...

Lexus radiator neck broke off and was found inside the hose that blew. Knock 1 and 2 codes triggered.

New radiator as well as a new thermostat and gasket since it overheated. $1200 estimated cost. Considering DIYing it...

As long as the thermostat is easily accessible. On my Passport, its buried under the manifold inside a thermostat housing that had never seen the light of day since it left the factory. Had to remove almost every dang hose on that engine too. That was the most satisfying thermostat replacement ever..lol

The engine is transverse mounted, so there should be tons of room once the shrouds are removed. Parts are looking to be less than $200 for everything

Have all of next week off, deciding whether to do one long-*** 7 day road trip to some roads in CO, AZ, and NM; alternatively, do two "day" (aka 18+ hours with the wheels turning) trips to WV, WI, or Louisiana to work the kinks out, then one overnighter to CO.

Haven't taken the Z out for a multi-day trip since last November. I had to cut that short on Day 1 when a truck spit a rock into my windshield in the Texas panhandle, and as the sun rose I had the unnerving experience of watching the crack grow as I drove...

this guy... On these trips, I only get out of the car for gas, bio break, and to take sweet Z selfies. Had a bird eat my 350Z grille once in far NW Nebraska; I named it Tweety and kept on rolling. Best passenger I ever had. Real quiet though..

Id get the extra bung when ordering. You can always just take out the cap if you want to install a gauge. More pain in the *** later to get a bung welded on.
