This is not going to be good. Renault wants to merge with Nissan.

Here we go! :shakes head: |
I be surprised if it happens. Nissan got rid of the CEO that wanted the merger. He's sitting in a Japanese jail the last time I heard. Renault been wanting this for years. With the French guy gone. It makes it even tougher.

Nissan should send Renault packing and go after FCA themselves
|
Not gonna happen. Nissan execs went hunting for any dirt they could find on Ghosn and dumped it in a prosecutor's lap to prevent this.

Renault is already partnered with "infiniti" for their F1 race team, so kinda no surprise to me. Although their engines always seem to fail or blow up. Hopefully our engines stay Nissan manufactured.

Nissan is aggressively is trying to prevent this. It's already bad that the quality of Nissan has gone down since Renault got involved, this will put in it in the grave.
|
Partnering and merging are two different things. Highly doubt this will go through.

On again off again
The battle continues. Nissan wants clarity before they commit but Renault has not given Nissan any sign of self-preservation. Since Nissan has been dependent on the alliance, they seem to be stuck and merely delaying the inevitable. The problem is they cannot split (not that easy) and no big player wants any of it.

Broken link. :(

God. I hope this does not go through. Renault makes some of the crappiest cars not only in Europe but around the world.
Nissan execs should know better. If there is a merger it will be the end of the brand, since their sales have been declining already. Nissan needs to step their game up, go back to the basics and install reliability into their cars. If the merger happens, I will never touch a Nissan product ever again, simple really. |
Sorry. I could not find a solution to the link. A web search on the Financial Times' article on the Nissan/Renault alliance will take you there. Sad but it is likely going to happen because Nissan isn't making enough to go at it alone. If Renault throws them a bone and give Nissan what they want there will be an agreement.
