I was hired during construction of the power plant. During construction, I was working 7- 12s. Then during start up and commissioning. It was 16 hr days for 6 months. Only had one day a month off. And here I am wanting to do another start up and commissioning. 6 months of work would be over $200,000 plus per diem. And that would be around $100,000.

You should be on a drill rig. Some of those guys made $1,500 a day. If you are an engineer on one. That's over $2,000 a day.

Dock boss and chief clerk (long shoremen) make over a grand a day for doing nothing but watch other long shormen work. And their benefits... the best ive seen. I had the same benefits as them, but made only a fraction of what they made.

That’s a little heavy. I’ve been a PM for offshore for most my career. I’ve never seen a bill rate more than about $200/hr. Typical rule of thumb is the employee makes half of that, so that’d be $1,200 for a 12 hr day. There might be some extreme case where you work most of the day but engineers offshore aren’t making $2,000 a day. At least not in the US. Offshore Africa with hazard uplift, maybe.
