We always have a jar of bacon fat. My wife lines the cast iron with it prior to making cornbread.

You got that right! You got to put a little extra so the batter sizzles and soaks up all that love.

We have the cornbread pans that make little cornbread sticks. So good.

And I added this one to my cast iron this week. Makes pie cornbread pieces with all edges.

Yup, so you want to live forever. My mom is 85 and going strong. Her mom died at 93 and her brother at 102. It is pretty much the same on my dad's side other than he went early at 72 because of a brain tumor. Pretty much everything had bacon drippings, fat back or fried crisco growing up. I think crisco might make you live longer lol. If got to have a vice, I will take my bacon over booze, cigarettes, drugs and any other digestible substance. Well maybe except for maybe icecream!
