It is evidence of systemic failure that we've been voting for the lesser of 2 evils for an awfully long time now...

This is a pretty great summary. It doesn't help that Health Care is such a huge issue to tackle. I have no doubt if the Republicans really had a better platform, they'd have unveiled it, but short of cutting coverage (again) for people with pre-existing conditions, you're not going to cut the cost of health care, and you're not going to stop the costs from rising, unless you make some pretty aggressive moves elsewhere in the sector. Right now a massive portion of the cost of healthcare goes into administration and advertising (up to 25% and 15%, respectively). Eliminating that is very tricky to do. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease have also increased - responsible for as much as 85% of health care costs for spending that actually goes towards providing care.

Sickest 5% of the population are 50% of the total health care cost. Blows my mind.

I have an idea about why diabetes and heart disease have increased, Americans eat like they live on a farm, but don't do farm level work. I travel a little bit (not near as much as onzedge) but what I've observed is that the average American is carting around 50 -75 pounds (or more) than what is healthy. We have gotten out of the habit of fixing our own meals from scratch because we work 10-12 hours a day to keep up with the Jones'. Health care is a service derived from someone's labor. You don't have a right to the fruits of my labor... :twocents:

I wasn't for Obama either though, or GW, so that's just my 2 cents.

Bush Sr was our last qualified president. Since then we’ve had basically career politicians and Trump, who’s only claim is at least it isn’t Hillary.

Well... maybe HW was qualified. I quit voting for a Presidential candidate in the election featuring Clinton, Perot & Bush Sr. Change doesn't come from the top, it starts in the communities we live in.

My old company hired Perot's company to write new software for us. Around a milliion dollars later, we hired a Korean company to write our software.

True. Norway is fantastic, but conversely it's an ultra-PC culture. Switzerland is also amazing, but very pricey to live there (of course the average income there is also much higher). I'd consider living in either of those countries.

Their society is slowly falling apart. The influx of Muslims is draining their health care and a number of other things. Pretty soon the Muslims will out number the native population.

The roads are really getting bad now. Had a couple of trucking companies call and said that they won't be able to deliver today.

We was only to get about 2". Looked out the door and there is over 6". :rofl2: I'm going to have fun going home. Time to play. :driving:

You're thinking of Sweden. Norway has pretty closed borders. Almost impossible to become a resident there, much less a citizen. My brother speaks Norwegian fluently, married a Norwegian woman (a doctor), goes to school there for his masters in Psychology - and still failed his first test allowing him to become a resident.

It's some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen, period. The people are also incredible. It's almost a totally fit populace, at least in the areas I visited (Bergen and Norheimsund).

This is on-point. One of my wife's uncles constantly rants about healthcare costs. He's overweight, has diabetes, and has had 3 heart surgeries. It's tempting to tell him to shut up, people like him are the reason the costs are high.

Should I go with Forgestar F14's or TSW Nurburgring in gunmetal?
