My dad started off with the idea that he'd teach us all to drive stick (I have 6 brothers/3 sisters). That idea died pretty fast when he saw how much damage we did to his clutch. What came out of it was that I and 1 of my brothers can drive manuals relatively well; one more can drive one badly, if needed.
I worked with my youngest brother for a bit in the Z before the clutch replacement. He's a very strong athlete, good climber, great artist... and has the foot control of a seizure victim mid spasm. After a few too many mistakes and a near panic inducing moment, we wrapped that up. We'll try him again in a few years.
Wife was by far my best student. She listened, had a decent natural feel for it, but when we took it from the parking lot to the road, she freaked out a bit too much when she stalled at a red light, and didn't want to try again. Too bad, she could actually do it well if she practiced.
