We always have a jar of bacon fat. My wife lines the cast iron with it prior to making cornbread.

You got that right! You got to put a little extra so the batter sizzles and soaks up all that love.

I believe in the South it's against the law not to have a drippins can on or near the stove!

We have the cornbread pans that make little cornbread sticks. So good.

And I added this one to my cast iron this week. Makes pie cornbread pieces with all edges.
