I got the 1/4 drive in nonlocking and now I kinda wish I didnt buy the locking 3/8 drive.

) and I'm still getting on an airplane and traveling on a frequent basis. I've grown up with computers, hell my first one was a TRS-80......

I get it that life sucks sometimes, but with an attitude like he has, he'll be dead in less than 3 years...

So what you are saying is you need someone to run the cmm and things? I know a guy, he aint cheap but can crash the tools with gusto!

I have a 3" or 4" stubby 3/8 that I use when space is tight. It's great for running stuff down, but not enough torque to finish things off.

Agreed. My boss is a great example of the appropriate mindset. Started off as a brake operator, saw the opportunity in computer systems, reinvented himself, ended up one of the VP's here. He does most of large scale IT work for the company, and he's almost 70.

There is not a steep learning curve to CMMs at all. Software is usually very intuitive.

We do have the worst of all CMM software packages. I much preferred CMM Manager over Geomet. Ugh. Geomet was designed by people who wanted a big pair of calipers instead of true 3D coordinate system functionality.

The FARO arm software is pretty good. Either way, I've prepared extensive work instructions on their use. You could be a complete idiot and still muddle your way through as long as you were a literate idiot.

Southeast PA is mild winters. We'll probably get 3 snow days this year.
