Why does work have to suck when we're adults? Can't there be like a "as long as you get your **** done, you can set your schedule" understanding?

Thats the kind of schedule i wish i had. Because id probably only be at work 2 days a week lol

LOL, I changed professions six year ago and I still have not adapted to punching a clock. In my other job it was just that. You know you need to get done and when things were due. I would work 70 and 80 hours a week some times but I also could take a day off here and there or leave work early when I wanted to. Man I miss having that kind of flexibility!

They just switched us over to using ADP by itself (apparently it saves the in-house people ~2 hours of work a week or something when using our old in-house system) and they're not making us (just in IT) punch out for lunches.

It's ******* hell. We don't have set lunch times, we typically work through lunch (but not now, if I'm clocked out I'm telling people I can't help them), etc.

im not too mad about my work set up.

i can show up anywhere between 7 and 9 to start me day. just put in my 8 hours (extra 30-60min for lunch) then go home lol

We use a company called Datis for our HR and payroll. It kills me that I am an executive and I have to clock in and out for the day. I don't for lunch...whoopie fckn do! The CEO tells me that it is way she can hold people accountable for showing up to work. I told her showing for work is just a start nothing more. We continue to agree to disagree and I leave it alone. She is the boss and she pay me very well so I have no complaints if you know what I mean.

For me, it's the opposite; This is the first time I don't have to clock in for anything, and can do stuff like working from home (which is what I'm doing today). I prefer being on-site for most things, but for doing paperwork (writing a business continuity plan today) it's way better than constant interruptions.

Pretty sure this corporate work isn't for me. We were a small, private, company a year and a half ago and it was much better.

Perfect! I am agency's COO so I need to be on site but I wished I had the freedom to work at home like you. I is difficult to get the paperwork done with all the interruptions.

At the power plant. We didn't have a time clock. We used time sheets that you turned in every Monday.

I’ve never punched a timecard but every engineering firm I’ve worked for required us to populate a time sheet. No way around it when your hours are billable to the client.
