Yep, worked with both of them. Waspaloy was a pain. Couldn't use metal brushes or steel hammers on it. Had to use nylon brushes and rawhide mallets. Couldn't scratch it when assembling parts.
Try welding aluminum/bronze alloy with tig. It was like sticking a marshmallow with a stick. :shakes head: Get the weld puddle started and then put the rod into the arc. The rod don't like to melt at the same temp as the parent metal. So you stuck it in the puddle, then melted off a piece. To make the weld look like dimes on the side was tough to do.
Had some alloys that we had to weld cold as possible. We made chill blocks to put the parent metal in and do a weld build up on where it was worn down. Had to kep the parent metal below 70F. :eek: |
