On the plus side, I have come to terms with the situation startlingly quick. And I have her retirement and alimony for some nice leverage. Ouch... not having been through this myself, but it doesn't sound fun at all.
I really would talk to some of these guys that have experience in this area just to ensure that there is not something that you may not have thought of that might occur.
