It took me a little bit figuring it out, but I did.. would I have bought it knowing what I know now? hmmmm, thats hard to say.. but watching my oil temps is definitely a priority now that I have a cooler than before getting one..

mike.. buy 2 cheap blankets from harbor freight.. we'll use the blankets to lay on the floor, so the pb blaster that we'll use will fall on that and not on Mr. Madwi's garage..

Be sure to save room for a large box of crap when you leave. You get to have all my old detailing crap I couldnt send in the mail. They are gallon sized jugs. :tup:

basically, even at 60 degrees, with an oil cooler, if your car's oil temp is struggling to reach 160 degrees, you're running the potential of doing damage to your engine (because the oil is too cool).. now there's varying opinions on air temperature and engine oil temps.. some will say 160 is too low, 170 to 180 is ideal, but there's no way you'll reach that if its 60 degrees out, and you're driving casually..

make sense?

madwi 03-31-2018 05:22 PM

It might have thermostatic switch. not sure but my guess would be it is.

eastwest2300 03-31-2018 05:23 PM

now, if its 70 degrees out or higher, you should be safe.. but always watching your temps (even at night, when temps are prone to dropping), if your engine oil temp drops to a certain level, you'd put on your block off plate, to prevent the cooler from dropping your engine temps to damaging levels.

trust me, if this doesnt make sense right now, it will when you get one. Its pretty impressive to see it in action, because your engine oil temps can change very very quickly with one.

I'm only speaking from personal experience, I am in no way an expert on how they work, this is only analysis that I've experienced 1st hand and the research that did AFTER I got one.. I couldn't pass up a good deal..

I was like...sh1t...:eek::eek::eek::eek:

It doesn't come with a plate. I have no issue getting one though. Shouldn't be that bad. At worse, either of you guys wanna trade for the smaller version? Lol
