Impact wrench and jack recommendation
Hi all, long story short, the last few jobs ive tried doing on the Z have been a pain the @ss and am looking for recommendations on a low profile jack and a cordless impact wrench. I live in an apt complex so electric and air impact wrenches are out of the question. Ive read some articles about impact wrenches and one that comes up a lot as a good choice is:
https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-276...+impact+wrench Does anyone have this impact wrench and/or can recommend another option? Dont want to spend more than $300, although i can push the budget a bit more. How about low profile jacks? Would like to keep it under $200 for the jack, if possible/realistic. Thanks. |
Just bought a new cordless impact wrench and ended up going with this:
Dewalt 20V Impact Wrench With just the few short uses I've got out of it I can say beyond a doubt it's a million times better than the 19.2V Craftsman I had been using. As far as floor jacks go harbor freight has some great options. I have one of each of these in my garage and the aluminum one travels with me to autox events. Harbor Freight Aluminum jack Harbor Freight Steel Low Profile jack Be warned the steel jack is heavy so don't plan on taking it with you too many places. |
I have the HF 2-ton long reach low profile jack... reaches the middle front and rear jack points.

I like this jack pad for use with my HF 2 ton low profile jack.

+1 on the harbor freight low profile jack. Any particular reason you're looking for electrical impact wrenches?

Thanks to all for the quick replies! Looks like ill be looking into the harbor freight jacks, heard great things about their products/service.
@Clam, Im actually looking for battery powered/cordless impact wrenches. Cant go electric or air cause i live in an apt complex and my apt is on the second floor. :shakes head: @Gomer, Have you been able to test the dewalt on really tight/stubborn nuts/bolts? I dont actually have plans on doing heavy duty work on the Z, just brake, suspension, wheel, exhaust work once in a while, but id much rather an impact wrench with more power than needed than not enough and actually needing it. |
The Milwaukee is one of the best battery impacts out. It has a chip in it to monitor the battery condition. The others don't. Dewalt is planning to install the chip in next year models according to the rep I talked to at work.
I have a Sears 19.2V impact. It's been good, not great. I used it for the levelers on the camper when I had it. It got the job done. If you get an impact. Get a commercial grade, not a DIY. The commercial grade has metal gears. Some DIY don't. |
