With my investments and future family plans though, I hope 40+ gives me a good retirement and great family...so I look forward to that even more!

You look forward to being older? Son, you will one day look back on that statement and say to yourself :wtf: :gtfo2:

Great idea for a thread.. Enjoy reading about peoples highlights in only a sentence or two.

Me.. A childhood I wouldnt wish upon anyone but it all worked out in the end. I now have Amazing kids, beautiful wife of 14 years and I've been very fortunate in the paths I've chosen. I'm going to say "right now" is the best part of my life (38)but I expect it to get better and better. Stay positive, be thankful for what you have and find the good in everything no matter how bad it seems at the time.

Again, thanks for sharing, very uplifting!

30 to 40 was a very good time for me, career wise and personally...... I had a LOT of fun. This occured in the 80's.......... those old enough to have been there, nuff said :p The last 10 years have been a bitch :icon14:

motoextreme 12-15-2009 11:24 PM

Not to pry but if last 10 years being "bad" relate to career problems, I need help in NC. Shot in the dark but you never know...:tiphat:

NC has a lot of opportunity, especially the triangle area and Charlotte. My issues related to a retiring President (mid 90's). I was a Senior VP and top management..... board hired someone from the outside and he quickly told senior management " I didn't hire you, you're not my team" I didn't want to relocate, just built my dream home and my parents are getting older, so, I made the best of it. I am in a good position now, but this economy has created a lot of issues..... they'll pass, but the previous fire combined with the market downturn hasn't helped my retirement plans too much :p

I'm terribly sorry to hear that but glad things are well now.

I can relate in more ways then you could imagine. I don't want to taint this thread nor bore anyone with my story but I know EXACTLY what you went through and I'll leave it at that.

I have to say though... I'm a huge believer in fate and VERY coincidental that you wrote what you did tonight. Wow, that was strange... :ugh2: Thank you for the insight (yes I said insight)...I need a drink!

:tiphat: Your profile states "manufacturing and distribution". The triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) I think would be an option for you, and it's an intelligent/educated area ............. probably not as much culture shock as some other areas might be for you, moving from California.

Sorry, should of made myself a little more clear.

I have an opening for a Managerial position in NC for a Distribution Center I just opened, sent one of my staff to run it but need a 2nd person (and quick). No where near the type of position you are qualified for.. I was offering a hand more then anything to help out if you were in a pinch.

When I say we have a very similar situation, simply because I too am a high level staff member and because of the current status of our Economy have concerns about the Boards interaction. So far its been just fine but you just never know these days.... Can't worry about things you can't control but at the same time you need to always stay on your toes as I'm sure you are aware!

Everything has a very odd way of working out. Enough philosophy for one night, I need to get back to emails. Best of luck!

**Forgive me for taking this thread off camber**

Not a problem, it was late and I may have misunderstood you as well :tiphat:

Well back in the 70's and 80's there were some good drugs around :icon14: so I'd have to say that was fun and I'm happy to be here and not sounding like Ozzy Osbourne
