As long as you (or a good friend) have a valid school email address, then you can get either Windows 7 Home or Professional upgrade for $29.99. This expires 01.03.10. Technical students also get it as well under certain circumstances.

Excellent deal, I have a few people who have done this, I get it from my school for the same price so I just use them. Note though, this is going to be a download .ISO file which you will have to burn to a DVD to use, but it is super easy.
Any for anyone who would like to do a fresh install, but buy this here you go: Windows 7 - Upgrade/Clean Install
