Help for my dogs surgery

Hello Snowflakes! All right everyone, I have a serious issue here. My wife and I's dog has been diagnosed with a slipped or ruptured disk in his lumbar region. He has started to lose functionality of his hind legs and is also needing help to go urinate. The cost of the MRI and the surgery is estimated to be between $4,300-$5,000. At the time we don't have the funds available to get this done. Therefore we are starting a go fund me account. I know not everyone can or wants to donate, which is fine, but even if you cant donate sharing the account with anyone is appreciated. It is a time sensitive issue as needs to be done ASAP. I already posted this in the "what did you do to your z? off topic"

Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/onyxs-surgery-fund
Please feel free to share on any social media!

Thank you everyone!

Feel bad for you, and your pooch. My golden retriever Jake goes for surgery on the 25th to get his knee fixed. He blew it out 2 weeks ago chasing a laser pointer. Cost for surgery is $4,000.

Sorry about your pup. A couple years ago I shelled out $2,500 on knee surgery for my Bernese mountain dog Lucy.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I'm hoping he gets better quick. Should be getting at least the MRI soon.

Was it the cruciate ligament?

I think. The vet called it the CCL. It's the same as the ACL on us. To fix it. They go in, cut and rotate the lower leg bone so that it's level to the ground when he stands. Clean up the ligament. The lower leg bone will be plated and screwed to hold the cut bone in place. So that it heals in the proper position. All of this is in the knee joint. The vet said it will be about a 3 month healing process. The first 3 weeks. He will not be allowed to do any running, jumping or climbing steps. When we take him out to do his business. We have to have him on his lease. He goes in after we come back from ZDayZ.

Glad hes getting fixed up. Thats also what we are doing at the moment, carrying him up and down the stairs, as well as limiting his movement. Hoping to get at least the MRI done this week.

$4500 for those services is a bargain.

There are no rich veterinarians.

My golden, Jake had surgery last Thursday. They fixed his knee, and cut the growth out under his left upper eye lid. He's home now, on drugs. :icon17: Vet bill was $3,700.

Sounds like I got a bargain. I only paid $2,500 for Lucy's knee, but that was 2 years ago. Here's some pics. I have 2 Bernese females.

What really sucked was keeping her locked up in the crate and trying to keep her from hurting herself.

Had to take the cone off of Jake's head so that he could walk around the house without bumping into things.
