Prepping the smoker for another 15+ hour round. Smoking a 10 pound pork shoulder for a party tomorrow. I'm sicker than a dog, so this will be fun....

Using pecan and maple wood. And made my famous dust rub. Basically a ton of brown sugar, white sugar, half a cup of paprika, ground ginger, onion, garlic, and thyme. I've been dry bringing the shoulder for the past 24 hours. It will now be dusted and smoked at 200F for 15-20 hours. I have just enough wood and pellets to last that long. May break out some mesquite as well.

First day of the new job. Not sure if it was a good thing I showed them I'm competent. They got me doing as much as the other installers already

It's a good thing. Don't let other people's incompetence lower your drive and expectations. It can get tiring, but lazy stupid people get just as tiring.

Gather rounds kiddies for I have a story for you.... All true. And all happened today....

10am this morning, I had a girl my girlfriend works with call me. Now mind you, I have been sick all week with the flu. No shower, brushed teeth, etc. The girl calls me saying Susan (my gf) rushed out of the office in tears. I proceed to call and txt her a few times to try and get her to answer me. No replies....

At 1pm, I finally get a few sporadic texts from her. A random address followed by "federal case" and "can't talk to anyone". I Google the address. It's for the town hall of a small borough a few hours from here. I'm now getting worried. She then texts me "at best buy in Liverpool and have an appointment afterwards". This city is over an hour away.

I finally get her to answer the phone and she is BAWLING her eyes out. I can't even comprehend what she is trying to say. After 15 minutes of hysterics, I finally get the gist of the story. And here is where the true fun begins...

She had received a call from "a IRS agent" stating that her taxes were wrong and they needed to be paid immediately otherwise she would be arrested immediately. So instead of being a logical and rational person... She bolts out the door of her office listening to every single word this guy on the phone is telling her. He instructed her to go to her local Best Buy and purchase $5,000 in Steam gift cards. So she goes and proceeds to purchase $4,000 of these gift cards on her credit card. He then instructed her to scratch off the back of them and read him the numbers.

After this is done. He instructs her she still needs another $1,000 to pay. So she proceeds to drive over an hour away to Liverpool Best Buy and do the same with her debit card.

Thank God the employee at this best buy caught on and took the phone from her after she had paid and started to ask the guy questions. He immediately hung up. She is now freaking out that she was scammed and here we are...

I can't comprehend this level of stupidity. But it makes for a very entertaining story for you guys. I have no faith in critical thinking anymore... I expect this to happen to 90 year Olds... Not a 28 year old girl. Freaking mind blowing. And so, on this day. I realized I am dating a complete moron...
