On the bright side of things, the pest control guy hit a water line while drilling holes for the termite bait stations. The bright side is that I don't have to pay for it :shakes head:

:icon14: Hope it gets better J. Never a dull moment.

Speaking of shops, I use to make the armor housings for the black boxes on aircraft. ceramic inserts, no coolant (obviously) and watch the molten metal fly! One of the coolest things.
We used greenleaf not mitsubishi but you get the idea.

Very cool! Fun to watch. My previous company made transmission frame beams for the Sikorsky S92 helicopter, from titanium forgings. Also aircraft launch and recovery systems for aircraft carriers, few other significant projects. New shop makes magnetic shielding for everything from the CERN lab in Switzerland to missile guidance systems.

Sometimes I miss the fun projects. Ive done everything from missile bay hatches on submarines to gyroscopic rotors for navigation systems, pintles for injecting the gas into the afterburner systems, pop up fins on the javelin missile ect.

That stealth helicopter that crashed while we took out Bin Laden...I made parts for that back in '97 :icon17:

Very cool. Were you with an independent company or did you work for a prime?

madwi 08-01-2017 09:06 PM

Independent shops. We specialized in low production runs of specialty parts, R&D and prototypes.

Really? Never mind then. I'll hold off. Haha. Every time I saw them, I always saw price tags of roughly $1,000. Thanks for the help.

Great price for red if they're still available.
