That's the same kind I am now looking at. The older model is better I suppose from reviews. Also getting a 3 year warranty through Amazon for it. Char-Broil is now on my banned list for life. I just feel bad for my UPS guy. He dropped it off yesterday and will be picking it up today while dropping off the new one next week.

Madwi, how bad are your temp swings on your smoker? Do you use a probe instead of just the gauge on the smoker? I'm debating on giving mine another shot with an actual probe thermometer and see if temp is more even inside instead of relying on the built in gauge.

It stays very even with no swings unless I open the door, of course.
I use a probe with the readout on the top of the smoker. Its accurate and even enough to get great results from whatever I throw in there.

This one is about 6 years old. Worked great since day 1.

I just ordered silicon smoke sealer for the door to better insulate and a maverick probe so I will know exact temps inside. I think the built in gauge absolutely sucks. The CS rep I talked with said low should be roughly 200 degrees, med 30 degrees, and high at 350 degrees. Temps swing of roughly 30 degrees is normal supposedly. Still seems drastic to me. I also ordered pellets and an amaze smoke box.
