It is literally one bolt, three nuts and unplug one wire harness.

strips bolt, nuts have locktite on them knowing my luck, and the wire harness is soldered :rofl2:

The fact that I had to sand down the helper spring bolt for the clutch, my front bumper is misaligned, the battery cover has plastic dremeled out, and something rattles in the hatch should prove my car blows to work on.

Operator error is not your cars fault :icon17:

The triangle mounting piece; plastic or aluminum?

It's probably the CNY weather :icon14:

madwi 06-14-2017 09:06 AM

These are plastic but I think you can order them with alum. mounts.

Pretty sure the car was in a front end collision and was either repaired without an insurance claim or carfax never updated the listing. The car was clean when I ran a report during purchase. But I am just noticing more and more small things that make me think things were done to it in a halfassed manor.

ChaseZ 06-14-2017 09:08 AM

I'll look into it. Pretty sure I'd want to massage that mounting bracket for a bit cleaner fit. But I'm funny that way :icon17:

That could very well be right. Certainly not the first time that would have happened.

Leingod 06-14-2017 09:10 AM

I'm honestly considering just trading it in for a newer sport model. Wondering if I can get something for what i am paying now.

Leingod 06-14-2017 09:11 AM

Mine is under warranty. I wonder if I could bring it to the dealership and have them look at the front bumper, alignment issues with the hood and fenders, the gap between the headlights and bumper, and the dremeled battery cover.

you can see by the bolt heads, these can be adjusted some more. I literally tossed them on and snapped some pics lol. its all black and I probably wont ever notice it lol

ChaseZ 06-14-2017 09:16 AM

I suspect that wouldn't be covered under warranty but it's definitely worth exploring.

These hoods are easy to align, I've not messed with the fenders but typically aren't too difficult even if a tab that they bolt to needs to be massaged somewhat for a proper fit. The only real adjustment for the bumper cover is the extension that protrudes off the road cradle. Even by yourself it's all very doable just takes a little time and patience.

And perhaps a bit of cursing!

I wasn't dissing your install at all. Thinking more of the shape of the mounting bracket itself. Can see where it has angular lines where they should be softly rounded to match up with Orem bits; that sort of thing.

It probably is something that you'd be blind to almost as soon as your done, but don't want to end up with a fit and finish like an Evo either :icon17:

Gotcha. I am kinda anal about spacing and as I was taking pics I noticed they need adjusting. I was too lazy to fix it though lol.

From what I saw when installing the front lip. The left headlight housing bracket was misaligned. When you push hard against the headlight, it becomes flush with the hood, but the bolt holes won't stay aligned to keep it in place. But when you push it to align with the hood, the bottom of the headlight is leaving a gap from the top of the front bumper. I can't readjust the light bracket without removing the fender with is misaligned with the top of the hood. None of which is really visible unless you know what to look for. But it's always in the back of my head that the car is flawed from some shady business in the past.

Leingod 06-14-2017 09:31 AM

I wonder how quick I could sell mine...

Maybe it's worth paying for a couple hours at a bodyshop and have them sort it out. That's very much the sort of thing I wouldn't trust a dealer to do any better of a job on than it already is.

Nice car, I really like the 40th. Are the really going for that much $$ though? Dang that's pretty good resale value for a seller.

That's true. I just don't want this to snowball into a $1000+ fix for a few inches in fixes. I wonder if a shop would give quotes on what little idea I have.

I didn't think that price was bad. haha. I def overpaid on mine because they're rare as hell around my area. think mine was 24k after everything was over. Sorta sickening for a 2009.... But it did come with factory warranty left still since it was a CPO.

ChaseZ 06-14-2017 09:40 AM

Worth asking at a shop or two. Guys that know what they are doing can do a lot of tweaking in a couple hours. No idea what the shop rate is there, but for sake of argument probably around $100. So for perhaps $200 to make that all go away for me it'd be worth it just to have it done and save the aggregation of trial and error yourself.

I don't follow prices really at all so my comment isn't from an educated perspective. My only real comparison is my own which was $29k Canadian for a 2016 base; essentially a brand new car for a bit less than that 09 after converting over to US.

I realize some options are different and it's not an anniversary model or anything of the sort, but brand new, zero miles, less dollars. That would sway me - not that I'm trying to sway you either way of course. Got to get what makes you happy.

Deal if you can line me up with a clean 40th or Pearl White Sport with under 30k miles and under 22k.

Pft, I'm over here browsing autotrader for a deal on a Q50 Red Sport. Hopefully in about two years I can get one.
