Does it have a roll bar/cage?

That's an awesome thing you did. If I had a kid, I'm sure I would've done the same. My kids happiness (and safety) > my hobby/dream car. I'm sure one day, this kid will surprise you with a car of your dream in your driveway!

BTW, soft top wranglers are one of my favorite 4x4 .

Nice move. And at least you'll get to go jeeping this way

Just please make sure he understands center of gravity, and the fact that a lifted Jeep is a tradeoff - it can go off road, but does not corner fast. Nor do they do well at high speed on the highway. If he's racing someone, even someone in a crappy sedan, he needs to let the other guy win.

I know I was pretty crazy with my first vehicle, but certain points my dad made did stay in my head. You don't want him spending his life regretting the girls who died in the back seat because he was showing off.

Sorry about the downer - I'm not usually much for safety - but I think it's worth bringing up...

Teenager that use to live behind us had a Jeep, no roll bar. He rolled it. He now rides a three wheel bicycle.

that was stupid of them to take it out. the factory ones like on the jeep i have and that moonlitebiker bought, are good and very safe but lack an A pillar which is its only weak spot really. im about to put one in along with some other supports.

Rolled Jeep!!!

you can see how the windshield is mushed down that it doesnt have much support and in the third pic you can see where there is no A pillar. ive seen alot worse and the stock cage has allowed people to continue to walk away with relatively minor damage to the drivers/passengers. after seeing all that i have i gotta say i feel alot safer in my jeep than any other car in a roll over

Edit: BTW Moonliteboker, do not let your son or any mechanic no matter what they say remove the sway bars. you can disconnect them for offroad which is a really good thing but if he is driving on the road make sure they are connected. the only jeeps you can get away with not having a sway bar are the leaf sprung jeeps
