My DIY Zed themed coffee table
After watching Top Gear for many years (The good UK one :rofl2:) I always fancied having an engine themed coffee table for the lounge. So I started to collect up some parts based on the 350Z I owned at the time. I finished this project a fair while back now, but I'm new to the forum so thought I'd pop up a few quick pictures :icon17:
I used a VQ Block as the main core of the table - powder coated in hyper silver with all machined faces mirror polished. On each corner of the block I mounted rods with mirrored pistons to rest the glass on. Under the Block I fitted 3 valves heads each side to use as feet. I also fitted some under table LEDs for a little light, but having the wires on show bugged me. To resolve this I designed and made a stainless steel plate to cover over the water pump hole and use existing mounting threads. Also added a switch to this for lights. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...F55E5B3323.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...DA9E14C449.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...98FF9B7D22.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...DBD446ADD3.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...45730CEBA9.jpg |

WOW, fantastic, beautiful,
Made it for the " lounge " must be a guy's lounge, I don't believe me wife would let it fly in my front or family room !:bowrofl: Just saying |
Thanks folks, I still love it! And it looks just as good now as it did on day1. The misses is still not too pleased with it as the glass top gets dirty pretty often.
