Default for the TV gurus out there....

aight guys i have a question for the TV gurus

due to black friday sale today i have bought another LCD tv
ill be using it primarily as a coputer monitor as i already have another to use for cable/ps3/bluray

my question is all my components are connected to my main tv
what i want to have is, have the same signal wether its cable/bluray/ps3
to play on the other tv

all my components are via hdmi

is it possible to have the same signal on 2 different tvs without splitting??(i was thinking connecting both tvs via hdmi(possible?)

i know older TVs had an AV output does hdmi have the same capability?

thanks

**diagram might help...sorry for the quick sketch lol

You'll need to get one of these and then plug one of these into the HDMI out. Ta dum.

The only way it can work without adding components as shown by Gaiiden is if you feed the signal through an AV Receiver that has HDMI support and 2 monitor outputs. Most TV's don't have a HDMI output unfortunately.

If the distance between the 2 screens is far you will also need a HDMI repeater.

Product Information Page - Linear LLC

Linear HDMI-SW-4X2M (used to be Gefen, Linear bought the line)

It's a great product, but not real cheap. Looks like you can get one for the $200 range.

The splitters mentioned above will work. Just keep in mind HDMI is very sensitive to being split and broken up. If you are going to ask can you watch both at the same time. I would not suggest it. At my neighbors house I wired it hdmi to the main tv and used the composite output for the secondary tv. This way it can be viewed on both tvs at once.

There are limitations on HDMI being viewed simultaneously on two devices. HDMI uses HDCP to create a "handshake" between the display device and the video device. A lot of splitters will allow you to use multiple devices together but not at the same time.
