Another great starter handle is the Dr. Harris although Muerker makes some pretty nice stuff too. As Leon noted, I prefer Feather blades as I find them to cut the best for me. usually you can find a deal where they send out a bunch of different brands to test out.

Even though they are a single blade, they last a lot longer than the multibladed units, by far. One Mach10 razor would last me maybe 4 shaves before being completely destroyed, these last me a good week and a half-two weeks of comfortable shaving.

Mitchell's wool fat shaving cream is my go to. Amazing stuff

I'm growing a beard out now as I have 30 days to do it. So far my wife loves it(hates it).

But I can have fun while I can.

Every time I shave mine, It goes through fazes. Batstasch, foo-man, soul patch, the hitler, mutton chops, and then finally fully shaven. Grow it while you can!!!!!!
