Car Thiefs
A guy that I work with had his Mercedes SUV swiped from our work parking lot after he left it overnight...
When reviewing the footage from the parking lot cameras, the thief was seen during the night getting out of a black Suburban that drove him into the lot. The perp got out of the passenger door and walked over to the Mercedes and bent down and reached under the drivers door by the frame and grabbed something. He stood up and promptly opened up the door, got in and drove off. When the local police were shown this film, they informed my buddy that thiefs are putting a magnetic case under car doors that holds a keyfob that records your key fob frequency each time you press your fob. So the thiefs can drive around and find a car they like, slip the device under it and then come back a few days later, reach under and grab their "special" fob and open the door and fire it up and drive off... HOLY CRAP.... I searched the internet and read quite a bit about how easy todays keyless cars can be jacked... HOLY CRAP... Anybody hear of this, or have devices installed to guard against something like this from occurring? (I work in Greenville, SC in a nice area, or so I thought...) |
no one wants ur AT Z, no worries.

Alright now... Looks like us Tri-City boys all stick together... LOL (They still got some clubs on the middle grounds? I used to prowl around there quite a bit in some of the days of my mis-spent youth... I even remeber a club on Saginaw Rd over by SVSC where you had to enter through a gasoline tanker trailer. It was a strip club for awhile back in the day) |
That's crazy.. Reminds of me how my previous Infiniti G37 coupe had the key hole and all you had to do is take a flat screw driver, jam it in, and turn it to where the windows roll down.. talk about security

Slammed!!!
Let me see you hide something under mine, LOL. |

On topic! Keep the full coverage ins. is the lesson here. |
Crazy.
Guess keyless entry needs one of those frequency changers that swaps it every time you use it to a new one. If it works for garage door openers it can't be that hard to make work with autos.. And making real life truck nuts from theifs should be legalized. |

Bottom line is, if someone wants your car bad enough and they have access to touch it, they'll get. Mine is always garaged and I never park it anywhere out of my sight, not a DD and my pattern changes so there's no routine to learn, but that's why we pay expensive insurance rates.....

If a pro wants your car, it's gone. Get full coverage insurance and lock your doors. Factory theft prevention will stop the vast majority of joyriders - they just want to go for a ride, they don't want to work for it. YMMV

get a security map with your tune. I think it basically cuts fuel, my car won't start with the map on
