The freakiest line in the whole post. Most of us have no idea just how many crashes occur on our normal commute every day.

A hard thing to get used to is the moment I cue up a radio and tell dispatch " XXX Command has been terminated, all units are clear of scene, returning to station"
everyone on that engines life goes back to normal and the incident will sooner or later be totally forgotten, while someone and their family, their lives will never be the same. Its just something that is played out everyday everywhere at just about every minute. Its sobering when you really kind of sit back and think about it.

:iagree: Adavanced driving techniques should be a requirement. Getting a permit or passing the road test is all too easy. Drive in NY for a day and you'll wonder how some of these idiots are allowed to drive. Apparently signaling is only a suggestion here. There's rarely a day when I don't have a close call with someone cutting me off without signaling. At least they changed the law to punish those who use cellphones while driving with points now. Small start, but at least it's a start.
