Droid Incredible users have found a truly incredible glitch on the HTC smartphone.

As Boy Genius Report writes, the Droid Incredible will snap screenshots of your browser--via the phone's Sense UI bookmarking widget--then store the pictures in its internal memory. Erasing those files isn't so easy. Those screengrabs of your online banking session or favorite porn site (for example) stick on the phone around even after a total factory reset.

Engadget explains, "Ending the browsing session, deleting your history, and even a full reset to factory settings failed to eviscerate the indiscreet imagery. You have to manually discover their location and delete them by hand."

BGR offers instructions on where you can find the images in order to erase them: "The JPEG files are saved to a folder named .bookmark_thumb1 which is located within the emmc folder of the phones internal storage (so you would expect a full factory reset to delete them). "

Browser privacy issue with DROID Incredible and HTC Sense UI widget? Boy Genius Report
That ridiculously easy to fix, so I don't even know why they make it such a big deal to delete them...

In fact, with the potentially large amount of pictures to delete, I'd probably PREFER to delete it that way, anyway.

I don't have a Droid, just posting as an FYI. For tech people I'm sure that's easy to fix, but a huge portion of the general public doesn't have the first clue about such things. If you read through the comments there you'll see how many people don't have any idea how to delete them.

Steps in order:

1.) Connect USB cable from computer to phone
2.) Drag notification bar down, click USB notification, and then click "Mount"
3.) Go into the phone as if it was any other removable storage
4.) Find said directory, go into it, delete pictures. Voila.

It'd take 5 minutes max. I have no sympathy for the tech-less wonders - they can go buy iPhones and be happy.

Hey, not everyone who owns an iPhone is tech-dumb. But a very large majority of them are haha.

Judging by the comments in the article I originally posted so are most people.
